You mentioned that the wood for the top was Olivewood. I know that this a rather silly question, but is this wood from an Olive tree?

Yes indeed. This particular top is from a Mediterranean Olive tree. There is another type that I am aware of and use - African Wild Olive, which is apparently harder than this one. The look is quite different too.

Beauty! Im so glad you put some sort of headstock on this Bass even though it has a bridge tuning system! And the wieght, WOW, i wish i can have a sub 7lb Bass.

Glad you like that. It's actually the by-product of me realizing that I could not come up with a headless bass design that truly looked original and good to me. Heck, the Steinberger design was already taken

Had the body of this one been chambered it would be around 5.6lbs. The Ü-J 5 spalted maple weighs a bit less that that. 5.3lbs... if I remember that correctly... mmm.. I should check the thread on TB....

Do you know the weight of your headless anchors?

Thank you PJ. I have no idea what the actual weight is and I don't have that kind of scale to find out. But it's very little, even though it's brass. In aluminum, it really weighs nothing.

I keep on changing design to best fit the look of the bass and they all end up being pretty much as light.


Now do you guys prefer these knobs?.........

I prefer the black knobs, the lines are functional but the black fits with the sleek minimal design better and I'm sure the owner could use the grub screws as reference points instead of lines if they so desired.
