The 13 Year Streak is Over

Especially blood cancers! Nothing to radiate or surgically remove…

I’m surprised that chemo is being considered in a recurrence situation.

I’m CLL (in partial remission right now but some signs of recurrence are emerging). Did FCR chemo four years ago and my next treatment will likely be targeted therapy, most likely Ibrutinib.

In any case, I’ll be pulling for you.
There's abdominal injections of daratumamab, along with dex, and montelukast (almost Telecaster!), and acyclovir to diminish any potential rash. That's the dope. Mostly oral meds. Good times.
P.S. the Mrs didn't shrug or go negative when I asked about getting another guitar. All I'm seeing are green lights ahead!
Yeehaw!

I did a clinical trial in 2010 which was revlimid and dexamethasone) (both common) and a catalyst carfilzomib. For myself, obviously, it was a successful outcome. I'm being put on another newer treatment of the many I've read about as I get the Myeloma newsletters.

It all starts tomorrow.

Maybe I'll buy a USA Telecaster 'cause I want one.
Sounds like you're well informed which always helps outcomes. Hope the new treatment is relatively free of side effects. Blessings 🙏

And buy that telecaster!

So, the battery of noxious dope went ok. The injection was a considerable amount of chemical but, so far, I haven't been troubled with any noticeable side effects. I'm still wonder if the dexamethasone will come on later tonight when I try to sleep. Likely, I'll get 2-3 hours in and be woken to use the potty, and I expect I will be on full-blast and not able to get back to sleep.

I'm actually hoping for this because a while ago, I bought a Bach Suites book and murdered it horribly. To add insult, I then decided to how real orchestra pit professionals played it via-YouTube. BIG MISTAKE. I'm not using the same instrument and my aptitude and education is nowhere near their level. So, I'm going back to what I know 'cause I'm fairly good at that. I regret letting my tenor clef processing get rusty too.

Things to look forward to. It keeps us motivated and alive.

I'll post my Mod Shop creation for the Telecaster once it's ordered.

Medical issues are the worst. Stay positive, and best wishes, brother.
I have a very positive cat rescue story related to the U-Texas Cancer Center. May as well tell it here. It's quite incredible.

Coming out of a routine face-to-face with my oncologist back in late 2020, I was walking the distance 3/4 of a mile to parking across savage 8-lane roads from facility to parking structure 'cause I didn't want to valet my car. Covid had already closed some facilities but not all. The day before my appt, I finally took dry-cleaning my wife need to the cleaner and the dry cleaner bag was in the car.

So, as I'm walking across the medical campus, I see this creature cross my path about 60-70 feet ahead. I wasn't a squirrel and being new to Texas I wondered what it was. I followed it best I could and under a large concrete stairwell, a nice kitty meowed and allowed me to approach. I petted the cat, it was very nice, I called the wife & she said bring it home. I picked it up but its claws went in DEEP! I knew I would not be able to get the cat the 1/2 mile I had yet to walk and across a very busy 8-lane highway with out serious injury to both of us.

So I reluctantly left the cat, got to my car and drove it closer and parked about a 1/4 mile away in a Covid closed UT facility. Remembered the dry cleaning bag. Fortunately, found the nice cat and bagged the sucker! It was pissed & vocal getting it home and since we had 2-other cats and Tilda, our American Pittie, we had some introducing to do which went well over the next few days.

We took the cat to the vet and told the vet the story. Scanned the cat and she was chipped! We got the contact info and called the owner. Something didn't seem right. Owner was in Frisco, TX, well north of us and a brutal concrete landscape of merciless traffic and municipality to be found at UT Cancer Center. How the HELL did that cat get all the way to south Dallas from Frisco, and WHY?

The owner sent me more pics, the cat's fur markings were spot on. She owned this cat. So we arranged pick up. She was reunited with her kitty. The owner had recently moved from south Dallas to Frisco and he cat got out right after her move. She thought she'd lost her cat forever.

I heard once that 7 out of 10 cats do not stay with their original owner. Take care of your kitties and dogs. They are NOT accessories.

That is a great kitty story, and I wish you all the best in your treatment and recovery!

I got my cat in a similar manner, she started hanging around our yard and we thought she was a stray.
After a vet visit revealed she was chipped, my wife called the owner who was literally "kitty-corner" across the back fence, whosaid:
"Oh, I wondered where she went after we got 2 dogs a few weeks ago. You can keep her!"

Also I love the reminder about good amps in your sig, couldn't agree more!

Week II treatment went way better than week I. Some of the junk I'm supposed to take causes severe heartburn and industrial strength hiccups. My stomach felt like it had a 5lb dumbbell in it and I did not want to do much. Also felt like I was gonna throw up in my mouth all week. Fortunately, by Friday eve, I was mending as I had a pub show Saturday. The show went well and Week II's bombardment was offset by (MOAR!) meds to soothe the heartburn and hiccups. My bathroom vanity contains numerous pill bottles of all sorts. The kinds of look you usually see with older people (me) at elder care facilities. Fortunately, the wife still needs me to clean litter boxes, walk & pick up after the dog and kill spiders, take the cars to service & get tires rotated.

Another show tonight. As easy load in and a great venue where they love us and I'm looking forward to it. Texas weather right now in DFW is also perfect.

The one thing I HATE is the over-medicated liquified feel I'm experiencing. Like coming down from a bad cold and that medicated feel that sticks with you for days. Bleech!
