The 2008 Stanley Cup Playoff Thread

Serg, Actually Nashville is in the Central Time Zone, Detroit is in the Easter time zone. The frustration for Wings fans with the west is two fold. First, Natural rivalries, Detroit has always had a rivalry with Toronto, Montreal and the Rangers. Also Detroit is an original six team. Detroit now plays the East teams about once a year, some years Toronto doesn't even come to the Joe. Supposedly Bettman is abandoning the asinine schedules of the last couple of years where Detroit plays Columbus and Nashville like seventy times, and the Rangers every other year.

The second problem is the time zone with night games in the playoff. It hurts the cities productivity and accounts for poor quality control in the big three! You can't blame a fan for being bushy eyed and hung over when that overtime game with Calgary didn't end till 2:15 AM Detroit time. :o So if you got a Ford without the steering column bolts it was probably Gary Bettmans fault.:D Many of those west coast playoff games were starting at 11 PM Detroit time.

Since the league is divided into 2 zones, west and east, central timezone still folds under "east. West: Pacific, Mnt time - East: Central, Eastern. :D

Detroit: Uh, you guys make cars? I thought that was Canadia and Mexico that made those cars nowadays.

The salution is simple, move Detroit.

Like i said, don't care, just sad to see crowd that doesn't care about their team.

Meanwhile...

"Whenever I watch the game, they lose. I think this was my fault. If I wait and look later, they usually win. But if I look while the game is on they always lose". :rollno:

See, Serg, there's your reason.
Maybe they're in the arena's bar(s)?

The Old No. 7 Club at the AA Center in Dallas is wonderful!!
It is, to quote TopGun, a "target rich invironment...."

So now you want to take on Detroit?

The Sharks are very lucky to still be playing. You need to leave taking on the Red Wings to the grown up teams.

Be patient, Red Wings...... We have a bit of housekeeping to take care of. We'll see you in a few days.

Think the Avs need a transfusion after that blood letting last night!

Can you say Ouch?

I have just received some information that has truly, truly terrified me and I feel I should start back-pedalling on all the Stars-Sharks smack-talking I've done recently.

In the history of the Stanley Cup playoffs teams have led a series 3 games to zero (like the Stars) 150 times. These teams that were leading the series went on to win 148 times. So as a Stars fan I'm feeling pretty good. My team has a 98.6% chance of closing out the Sharks..... It's all good. Until I started to research the 2 times a team came back from 3-0 to win...........

The first time this happened was in 1942 with the Toronto Maple Leafs beating Detroit after the Wings jumped out to a 3-0 series lead.............Exactly 33 years later....

The New York Islanders defeated the Pens after Pittsburg jumped out to a 3-0 series lead.............Now for the scary part............EXACTLY 33 YEARS LATER!!

The Stars jump out to a 3-0 series lead on the Sharks........... Oh CRAP!!!!!!!!!:hiding:

To Kserg and Hippiesandwich.........please be gentle with me!!:D

Because Nashville is soooooo much more west of Detroit.

People who determine if place should have a team or not based on it's location need help, as well as a lot of help in geography it seems. Winapeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Chicago, St Louis, Minisotta, not at all hockey places...

Yeah, because Detroit playing insignificant francises 8 times a year is so much better for the league than Detroit playing teams like Toronoto, Bostom, Motreal, NYR, Philly, Pittsburg......

The movie Jaws was also released 33 years ago as well. ;)
Wait... as I recall that didn't end too well for the Shark :hmm: :help:

My son and I will be at the game tonight giving it all we've got.

How many of you guys play/played Ice Hockey? What level?

Andrew

I really really wish I had gotten into it as a child but back then I didn't have much of a competitive spirit nor coordination. I flopped in Soccer and Basketball. I've even thought about having children so that I could make them into hockey players, but I think I would wind up turning into one of those violent "Hockey Dads" and I'm not really into the whole procreation thing.

I've been casually looking for some sort of floor or roller hockey league in my area, but nothing too serious. I do love to ice skate, mainly because of Hockey, but I can't skate backwards which seems to be pretty important in Hockey.

I play a lot of EA sports NHL 08 on PS2 (I would prefer PS3, but I got a Wii instead); before that I put quite a few seasons on NHL 02; it was NHL 99 on PS1 before that and NHL 96 on the PC before that.

wow...

i hate blaming games on the ref cuz it always goes both ways...but is there anyone here(who saw it...) think goal #3 was "kicked" in?

that was a good game, back to dallas. i originally called it dallas in 6 anyway...

Apparently Morrow is the 'David Beckham' of ice hockey (according to the broadcast I was watching) in his ability to mysteriously 'kick' a puck into the net while staring at the crossbar.

So yes, I think it should've been a goal. But that only would've made it 2-0. That changes everything, so saying that if it was counted that the third Dallas goal would've happened is preposterous, because there is no guarantee that they would've scored a third goal.

yes of course, who knows what would have happened

it doesn't matter what 'could' have been...i just hate it when calls like that are made. its ridiculous...

i almost one suite tickets to sunday's game...too bad ill be watching on the big screen from home(13" big....:hmm:)
