The 2008 Stanley Cup Playoff Thread

My voice is still strained from the screaming I did during that game. My dorms lounge is usually full of people watching football, but when people heard me and a friend of mine yelling for he flyers, no one could understand why there was no football on, and why there were only two people making all that noise.

It's nice to see someone so passionate about hockey! Too bad you're a Flyers fan.

Ha. Can't say thats the first time I've heard that in my life. I can't go in public without getting harassed when I wear my jersey around.

:p I'm just joking around, you gotta support your team and I respect that. Oddly enough I am a Bolts (another reason for the Flyers 'hate')/Flames fan, before the series even started I got harassed pretty bad just for wearing my Tampa jersey around town. At least my girlfriend's family was accepting of my 'traitorous' ways. Chirping each other was pretty fun during that series.

Oh I love the rivalries. I wouldn't be a Flyers fan if I could deal with confrontation. I've grown up around most Devils and Rangers fans. It sure keeps in interesting.

Going to school in Virginia has pretty much cut hockey out of my life though. People have literally never even heard of most of the teams when I start talking about hockey. If its not football down here, it doesn't matter.

+1. How does a team go up 3-0 in the first four minutes of a game and lose?

As opposed to being held to only 10 shots in your own barn and still not trailing in a game for the first 59:51? :p

Great shot of Tim Hunter in the pic from '89.
For the record, Lanny McDonald has the best moustache in NHL history.

+1 to "REAL" hockey cities and you wear a Tampa sweater around Canada? Mmmmkay.

And yet the final score was 3-2, whats that say about your goalie?

I played against a team that Lanny coached. I love that guys 'stache, it's quite spectacular in person.

I'm not saying Tampa is a real hockey city. Calgary is. I just happen to support another hockey team that was/is full of Canadian players that was a pretty good hockey team 'til Khabibulin left, they just happen to play in a city that is definitely not a hockey city. My wearing the sweater was also showing support to the sport, not just the team. And at least I'm not an idiot who wears a Jacksonville Jaguars jersey to a hockey game. I'll never wrap my head around that one.
