Yep, that's the only way anyone could afford a few thousand dollars worth of gear.

Or buy a new Kia, which costs more than most collections.
;)

Hint: most people don't buy everything at one time. If you bought and kept one bass a year for ten years... you'd have at least ten basses.
:D

Fender MIM Lake Placid Blue P - My first bass and I will always have it.
Conklin Groove Tools 7
Nordy Two Tone Sunburst VJ5
Nordy Ice Blue Metallic VJ5
Alleva Coppolo Ice Blue Metallic LG5
Alleva Coppolo Three Tone Burst KBP5

Of all of those, I still have my P. I have an upcoming Nordy VJ5 around the end of the year and will have another Alleva Coppolo someday. Great basses.

196x or 197x Pan P - It's a funny bass. The single pole P pickups sound good and it plays really well too. It's currently in pieces as I try to replace/restore some things. There isn't a serial number or anything on it so I have no idea when it was made, but I've heard late 60s or early 70s.

1978 Yamaha BB800 - My gigging bass. It's beat up but sounds awesomely huge. Tuners are a little shot, but stay in tune once you get there. Love this bass.

1979 Peavey T-40 - My backup/detuned bass. It holds tension while downtuned like no other bass I've ever owned. It's currently at D standard, drop C & has better tension than my Yammy at E standard Drop D. It is heavy, but I don't care a ton.

1986 MIJ Fender P. It was nice, sounded like a P and played well. I sold it a few weeks ago though. I had other P basses and the tone wasn't as aggressive as the Yamaha so it didn't make a great backup.

1990 Squier P Deluxe. My only bass for 10 years. I just recently replaced the pots/wires and it sound good again. Keeping it. It's light though and doesn't have the punch I like in a P.

2001 Reverend Rumblefish XL - My favorirte bass, but I don't play it much. Don't want it wrecked at shows so I play it at home.

200x Yamaha RBX775 - Got it to try out 5 strings and active basses. Found out I still don't really like either one. It's for sale.

2009 Ibanez JTK - It's a cool bass, but the pickups are pretty low output, which is strange for a dual bucker. Otherwise, it sounds good and play great. Fast, wide neck. This is for sale as well.
