I'm in! I've been playing a 5 string exclusively since the late 80's. The one I've had the longest is now a 35" scale fretless 5. It started life as a cheap 5 string fretted Washburn. After I replaced the pickups with EMG's, added two preamps with active BTM for the neck and an EMG mid boost for the bridge, I moved the neck out 1/2" and the same with the bridge, and replaced the fingerboard with a fretless bubinga board I cut. I last replaced the body with a mahagony body I built. My second oldest is the 1995 Peavey Axcellerator 5. I currently play the Variax 705 mostly, and the junker parts MM type bass for my backup. (That cost me around $100 to put together.) The others include a Squier Pro Tone, JB Player and Dean acoustics and a Steinberger Spirit. Most have been modified with better preamps, pickups, etc.
I still have two 4 strings, a Fender Jazz Bass Special, and a headless Explorer bass I built in the early 80's. I use them when giving lessons only.
