So my b450 did something strange. I set my bass down for a minute, volume down on the bass. I walked in the other room and it sounded like my hard guitar case slammed shut. The fiance told me that was my amp that made that sound.. ask the input jacks on both ends are tight, the cord is new. Any thoughts?
This sounds like some murder mystery on TV but without a body !
Yet does the amp not operate 100% now ? Could've been a power surge thru your home electrical.
Maybe a leaking capacitor.
Did your girl do something to it (by accident , of course!), start up her blow dryer made by Pratt and Whitney ?
Or did the ghost of Jim Marshall try to possess it ?
It still works fine as far as I can tell, I barely had the volume in the amp up, just enough to hear it over the bass itself. Nobody touched it. It was weird. I'm just nervous because I bought it used at guitar center and couldn't get the warranty because (here comes the long story)
I put most of the money down on it through layaway (because it was used there was a police hold in it to make sure it isn't stolen) came to pick it up and turns out there was 2 on layaway, they got rid of mine to the other guy, so his serial number doesn't match from his layaway order. So because I had the amp that was suppose to be for him, I couldn't get the warranty. It's still within the return period thankfully, but I don't think I can get anything as loud or nice in this price range.

Yeah they spent about 45 minutes in back with it, to be fair it is in better shape than the one I picked, and it was $50 more but it was an even swap because of their mistake.
Somewhat of topic, if I was to blow out one of the speakers, can it be replaced with a high grade sub from a car? (With similar specs of course)

If you blow one, your playing too loud or need a higher powered set up.
Don't do the car speaker route That gear is not made to handle ALL the frequencies/power handling/moments a Bass driver needs. Try Eminence. For around $100-125 you can find a good match. Try to not to mix and match.
That said, it is important to try to match directly to whats in there from the manufacturer.

Are numbers still being given? If so, I would like one. I like my little Acoustic B200 MKII. It has excellent tone. It's likely too small for real jobs but for my purposes it's perfect.
I have an acoustic 370 as my main workhorse for my led zeppelin tribute band. I used a 150b for backup a couple of gigs ago due to an ongoing issue. Its served me well for the most part though. Also covered my sabbath tribute band well. In some venues the 370 drops volume or cuts out and distorts like a full on fuzz for no reason. Taken it to my tech a couple of times and we can't find anything wrong with it. Everything measures correctly and the amp is brand new inside. Sometimes I just switch input jacks and it goes away but it keeps bothering me. Other times that won't do it. I never know which venue might make it act up. So far its held its own on 12 of 13 gigs since last may. I've considered shipping it to john_k but that would cost me about the same thing as getting another one between shipping both ways and whatever might be wrong with it, if something indeed is wrong or just the voltage at the places I play being the case. Any ideas...
