The African Bass Lesson Part 1, Edd Bateman

Thanks! I was very into that stuff in the 90's and was fortunate to see some great acts Like Salif Keita, Mahlathini and the Mahotella Queens, Les Tete Brulees, King Sunny Ade....

Would like to get back into it and will definitely check this out.

Kind of a Zombie thread...but has anyone gone through his lessons? I made it through a few during the early days of the pandemic, but got caught up with the right hand technique. I'm having a really hard time getting it.

Early on in the lessons he talking about how to vary some of the basic lines and he tosses in a pickup note. No big deal, except that it's on like the last beat of an 1/8th note triplet or something and it's hard to count!

I got discouraged early on, but I'm wanting to get back to it.
