You wrote eloquently before about the big difference in sound between your Queen and your AES NS Cleveland. When you have time, could you please do the same kind of quick recording of the Cleveland with the Edirol, playing the same kind of stuff?

Phil, she sounds alot more powerful and even then when I played it last year.

Great midrange cut w/ plenty of testicular fortitude and complexity of tone to back it up. I'll bet live the lower range spread in the room just puts it off the hook completely!

You sure have chosen wisely. I'd like to think playing my Prescott a couple yrs back inspired your decision to search out the AQ.
So glad it worked out for you. Maybe now Sheri can begin to forgive me for giving you a case of the ultimate GAS attack :hiding:.

What I want to know ... Is how Eric Swanson knows about The Bitterroot Valley in Montana ??? Now we are talking about "Country" I know ;) .... Great micro-brewery, bluegrass festival, fly-fishing, hunting, hot springs swimming, forest fires, and river-running. Tell me more and come visit The Bozone sometime.

Love to Bob. First of all, I am from all over these blessed States, especially the chosen Western few, aka God's Country.

Secondly, my dear old Dad has lived in the Bitterroot for a few decades, in Hamilton. I have spent a few weeks out there, from year to year. I am proud to be a Big Sky Mudflaps fan.

So anyway, I don't know much, but I know a little bit about a little bit. The Bitterroot is The Good Lord's own country, IMHO, I will look you up next time I am out there, if your are close.

BTW, Dad is thinking that Hamilton is getting a mite too citified, what with all of the flatlander money coming in. He might branch out a bit to a quieter locale...

End of detour. Back to the Alsatian Queen, in all of her glory...

As requested a quickie of the Cleveland Ply for comparison.

I notice it's harder to play. It doesn't give me the response that the old guy does. The sound isn't hugely different which just continues to prove how much is in your hands. With a better bow hand you'd notice quite a bit more difference in Arco tone between them.

I did notice the G on the ply is much more clear, less spiro buzz. Not sure if that's a setup thing or a newer string thing. The only other thing is the Ply is wearing a Mitt E and the old queen a Stark E.

So you don't have to look for it here is the first clip.

Yep. The queen sounds pricier for sure. Way more detail to it. It's hard to describe other than being "pricey" sounding. Kinda like the air just reacts in friendlier way to the queen than the cleveland. That cleveland still sounds nice though, just not nearly as nice. Congrats on all that bass Mr. Toad.:)

I think the biggest differences are in how I physically respond to them. The old girl is alive and vibrant. Lots of resonance. I don't have to play near as hard for as much as I get out of it. As such I can play better.

Having said all that the Cleveland is a great bass. Really good for being plywood. A stalwart backup catcher for sure.
