So Ken Smith informed me that it's not that bass in the video and he's right. From Ken:

To honor the requests of those asking for sound clips I sat for a second in front of the Edirol and recorded me dragging a bow across the thing and whacking out a quick blues in G.

Try the Bitterroot Valley, around Hamilton or Darby. Nice country.

The bass looks wonderful. A serious bass for a serious bassist.

For what its worth, I also dig the lamp, hard.

Nice sound coming out of that bass, in your hands.

It saddens me to think that this may be my first disagreement with Paul W (at least that I know of). However, it pleases me to think that at one point, somebody actually got paid to design and build that thing.

Congratulations on the results of your hard work, vision, and faith. I mean the bass, that is...

Playing that thing on tonights gig I was just smiling. Thinking about Warmbuttocks and trying to play "nasty". Some dude comes up on break while I'm trying to choke down some gumbo and says "you a nasty motherf++ker on that bass man" and keeps on walking. Bout fell out of my chair.

It's pretty bright from the driver's seat. You can hear the low end in the room and feel it around you but from the driver's seat it's articulate and clear. Plenty of round and punch but no mistaking the pitch you are playing for good or bad. Between the spiros and the bass when I suck, as is most of the time with the bow, it's clear to everyone. I like that. Keeps me on top of it.
