I wanted to ask fellow enthusiasts opinion.. Up here, I often hear that jas draken was a beautiful plane. Now I respectfully disagree, but will admit that it's by far the loudest plane I've ever heard.

Personally, when it comes to looks, I've always loved grumman. From the old beer bottle shaped ones to the more modern ones, my two all time favourites are the A-6 and naturally the tomcat. A6 is a weird looking little thing and the tomcat is like a woman who is just fat enough to have perfect curves..

I LOVE the Drakken! Then again I'm addicted to delta-wing types... they look somehow futuristic to me

Regarding the A6, I like it too. there's something appealing in the bulbous-nose and wide wings. But there's one plane that's cooler in that sort of look and that's the Cessna Dragonfly :D:D:

Over the summer, the EAA had their '29 Ford Trimotor in town. I got to take a ride on it, and paid the extra money to ride in the right seat. It was an excellent time! Thought I'd share the experience with y'all. Hope you enjoy!

I've got about :45 in the right seat of N414H.

Definite need for David Clark's when sitting up front.

No doubt about that! I did get to use their spare headset to chat with the pilot and listen in on the other radio traffic. Very interesting!
I've been threatening to take flying lessons for a long time but never got around it. This was the closest I've come and I loved it!

Since I barely recognize any of these planes. Any suggested reading? With good pictures and stats? I know there is probably way to many aircraft to stuff in one book.

Maybe a book on classic aircraft and modern?

I can't help you with aircraft identification, but two really amazing reads are:

Skunkworks: a personal memoir of my years at Lockheed

Boyd, the fighter pilot who changed the art of war

There are plenty of "coffee table" books that you can find in the bargain books at Barnes and Noble that list aircraft with pretty pictures and stats. I even picked up a pretty cool one focused on aerial weapons, as well as a photographic compilation of cockpits.

I have one of those coffee table books, WWII aircraft with cutaways and descriptions, includes the majority of the aircraft flown during the war. I think it was $5. The Jane's books are fantastic for aircraft recognition, they are usually found in the reference section of most libraries, at least the ones I've been to.

Hello fellow plane fans...Help!!

I've got an 8th scale r/c J3 I'm wanting to mod and I can't decide between a bush plane and a crop duster.

I'd like to (kinda sorta) model it after something that actually flew so if you know of any crop dusting j3's, pics or info would be greatly appreciated. As for a bush plane, I'm pretty sure I've got the (scale) tundra tire problem solved and have also picked up a set of fulling functioning scale LG so bouncy, gravel bar type landings will be possible if I go that route.
