thread revival fail.
It didn't fail. KillerNeuron, people were just busy.
But now, as a matter of coincidence, can anybody tell what happened 70 years ago today? April 18th, 1942?
That's right - The Doolittle Raid!

70 years ago, the US got payback for the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor four months earlier.
Over the years, many people have forgotten what these 80 American airmen did during a very dark time in US history, but it seems that more and more people are beginning to notice this, and other important facts of history, mainly due to the History, and Military channels on TV. Hats off to them!
Jimmy Doolittle has been a hero of mine since I was a little kid. He lived a very full life that had many twists and turns in it. You can read about him from his childhood in Alaska, to his military service and his airplane racing days, to his working for Shell Oil, which was the first oil company to produce 100 octane gasoline, mostly at Doolittle's request, in this book:

I highly recommend it; it's a very interesting read whether you're a propeller head or not.

And here's the takeoff scene from the movie, "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo". It's worth watching the entire movie.

I believe there are only 5 or 6 of the original Doolittle raiders alive today.
Thank you guys. I will always remember.
