The Awesome Show Off Your Amp Thread!!

updated and clear pic of the rig. Rack is complete (for now :D), has the peavey tour 700 in the bottom, Korg DTR-1000 tuner in the middle, and a furman power conditioner/strip i found cheap today. Nice simple setup.

Thats my Peavey 6x12 cab, in my opinion it sounds sharp. In the picture you cant see the amplifier but it is a Genz Benz Neo-Pak 3.5. The Ibanez BTB isn't mine btw

ps. If anyone actually knows the model number etc for the cab can someone help me out? I brought it second hand from a shop and not even they knew what it was.

It's certainly a relic from the '70s...

No model number but this looks like the same cabinet

Doing a google search, there are a couple links back to TalkBass, one of which mentions a model 612H which would certainly fit in this case...

that's a beautiful pair. in great condition no less.

The Marshall cabs I have as far as I know are all stock.

1935A JCM800, Bass 4x12" 280W 16Ω angled front cabinet, 4Celestion G12-65 T3101 16Ω speakers
1551 IBS, 200W 2x15" 8Ω straight cabinet, 2 Celestion 15" G15-100 16Ω 100W speakers
1553 IBS, 300W 1x15" & 2x10" 8/16Ω straight cabinet Celestion 15" S15-250 T4021 8Ω 250W SideWinder and two Celestion 10" 50W speakers

I haven't really ran the 1551 or 1553 very hard. The 800 wasn't pushing them to the levels I needed to compete against 2 1/2 stacks...but that 4x12 did the trick.

I use the older of my 2 800's (vert in's), it has better mids and highs than the horiz in's 800....but now I have that '71...:hyper:

All 3 heads run EL34s. not sure about the pre's

the 71's channel 1 (2 was sweet) was real noisy when I plugged it in for the first time last weekend, then it blew a fuse.
I have a recipt from a few weeks ago that said it had been cleaned and serviced...from a shop 60 miles away.

I also have a Marshall DBS 7400 2Ω 400w.

I need to get a supporting membership and sell some stuff.

*I listened to Exciter alot in the mid-late 80's & cut my teeth on that time period's thrash. It's cool Exciter is still active. :D

The newest-to-me '73 Super Bass is almost untouched. A couple of small replaced parts - a tube socket, diode, a resistor or 2 and that's it. It sounds huge!

You have some nice gear there. How do you like the sound/tone of the Sidewinder in the 1553 cab? I have a 1551 but the original speakers are long gone. It sports JBL 2225J spekers right now. But, I have a 1552 cab, loaded with the original Sidewinder S15-250 speakers waiting for me in L.A. I'll be there in a couple of weeks and will ship it back here then. I'm really interested to hear how those Sidewinders sound. Funny you mention about not being able to drive the 15s hard enough. I have a 1520 4x12 cab and it sounds about twice as loud as the 1551 cab. I'm hoping the Sidewinders will be louder (they have much higher sensitivity than the JBLs in the 1551). I'm also considering sealing up the port hole. I'll try stuff and see what my ears tell me. That all said, running the 4x12 and 2x15 using 2 Super Bass heads (one for each cab) is plenty loud in the band situation. :D

I've been a fan of Exciter since the mid-80s too, when I was a teenager. It's a real trip to now be IN the band and writing, recording and touring as a member! Our latest CD - Death Machine - was just released at the end of October. :D

Thanks for the info. :D

Cheers!

Can't remember if I posted this in here yet or not. It's my DIY project that I got going on because I loved the tone from my VT pedal so much I was running my amp's tone controls totally flat. I finally decided to dump my amp and go the power amp rout for pure, clean power for my new VT Deluxe. I couldn't be happier with the sound.

Pedal board that's the brains of my rig. All of the pedals are in frong of the VT with the exception of the EQ, which is in its FX loop. The power brick and my wireless are under the shelf, and it's got a built-in mic stand to save space on the microscopic stages some of the bars give us:

It's not fancy, but it sure thumps!
