Listen to Moving Pictures he gets almost the exact tone from the Rick and the Jazz.
it
a one trick pony and you need a good amp to make up the difference.
Oh good another "P basses aren't perfect." / "YOUR WRONG P BASSES ARE PERFECT! YOU MAKE ME CRY WITH YOUR LIES! LEO GOT IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME! FLATS! SUNBURST! TORT! PRE-CBS! IT'S SQUIER NOT SQUIRE! EVERY SONG EVER RECORDED WAS DONE WITH A P BASS!" thread.
This has to be one of the weirdest threads I've ever been on.
Yes, because Geddy's tone is so "e"ffected and over-processed that the bass is almost irrelevant.
not true at all.
he uses a very basic rig, doesn't even use amps live, no pedals at all.
Dude, get real. Geddy's live rig is anything but basic. And it is extremely processed.

Sheesh...how are you going to get fuzztone, duck quack, and rocket launcher sounds? Even an "all in the hands" type like me can appreciate a good fuzz/wah/flanger.
Wow. Here's a hint: just because you can't see a rig on stage doesn't mean there's a rig......

You can get a grindy overdriven tone with your hands, I'll give you that. Tain't fuzz, though.I can get a fuzz tone with my hands (dig in. a lot) and on my basses with parametric midrange controls, I can get a wah effect. No luck with the flanger.
LOL! Eh, what do you care? You have a hot wifeI'm a poor man. Please, Mr. Jimmy; don't get me obsessing about things I can't afford.
HAVE MERCY!!!
There is no flaw with a P-Bass.
Just the people who play them.
The P in P-Bass stands for perfect.
