I wear my bass within an inch of my chin (well not quite, but you get the picture). Don't listen to what your friend says, you want your bass next to your chest so that you can channel your energy, after all - 'groove is in the heart'.

Unfortunately this is something I've only recently started doing and I haven't got any gig photos with my new strap length yet. I'll be sure to post when I do though! To make the strap short enough I had to pierce a new hole in the leather. That was alot harder than I initially expected. Also - I have been finding that my shoulder and upper back have started hurting recently whenever I spend a couple of hours playing slap, I'm not sure if that's anything to do with the new strap length or not, but fortunately my mum's an osteopath and has sorted me out properly with acupuncture . You'd be surprised how well it works!

I wear my bass too high to worry about buckle rash, but moving the buckle would seem to be the easiest way to avoid scratching your bass and exposing yourself.....

Do you get nipple rash then???
