I feel ya. Just sold my HD112/210 combo in order to move overseas. Finally, the perfect rig for me and I had to dump it for a huge loss... Grrr.

LOL! Honestly I just got back into music a few year back when I was going thru my slightly-pre-mid-life-mid-life-crisis so it may be time to move on. There's really much more too it than I wanna post here.Gonna sell some pa that I got stuck paying for before selling my dream bass rig..... however I can't afford to have stuff sitting around gathering dust so if nothing turns up soon it's all gonna go.
Speaking of my dream bass rig this thing is just ridiculous....

Where did you see the statistics that people are moving away from Class D amps? I think the opposite is true. Maybe we could get Dave Boonshoft to weigh in on the comparative sales between the DB751 and TH500/350.
I think a lot of people are getting off the neo bandwagon because there aren't that many neos being made right now. I have all four AE cabs, and they sound as good as anything I've had (D-410XLT, D-210XST, D-210XLT, D-212XLT, Quattro, GS410, HT322). In fact, the AE212 sounds better than all the 12s I've played except maybe the HD212, which is about the same.
LOL! It's really amazing tone wise and volume wise I think it could hang with an 810..... I barely have to push it.
There was a guitarist I was working with that ran two tube combos stereo and was so LOUD my old rig just barely kept up, in fact I blew a few speakers trying.... this thing didn't break a sweat and I never had the master volume over 9 o'clock...
That Shuttlemax 12.2 is no slouch and really sounds good with these cabs.

I got rid of my 80 lbs. rack with my Demeter pre and Crown Macro Tech poweramp and went with a 6.75 lbs Shuttlemax and no way would I want to go back... more so for tone than weight but I can't deny it's nice not to have to haul that rack around anymore.
Strangely enough I went from neo speaker to ceramic but I didn't conscious move away from neo, I was just looking for something I liked better than what I had.

rmars: I see in your sig that you are using Lollar J's. I had a Fender custom shop jazz that came with noiseless pu's, and I swapped them out with Lollars. Holy moly! What an improvement in tone!!!

Yes they are pretty awesome... had Antiquity II's, Fralins, Fenders, Emg's etc over the years. All of them had certain qualities that I liked but for me the Lollars are it.
I recently got a Berg HD212, and I'm trying to figure out which head I want to get to pair with it. I think I have my search narrowed down to two... Either an Aguilar TH500 or Gallien-Krueger MB Fusion 800. My two basses are a passive Jazz with rounds and a passive Precision with flats. I play finger-style on a lot of classic and contemporary popular music. I don't like a "hi-fi" tone (nothing with a lot of sizzle and pop in the treble), but I love a "throaty" mid sound and big low end. The main thing is that I just need a head that won't get buried in a mix of 2 guitars, keyboard, and drums on stage.
Any recommendations on which of those two heads would fit that description better? The MB Fusion 800 would offer more headroom, and I feel like it would also cut through a mix better. There's no place close to me where I can try these amps out. I've also seen a lot of people turning around and selling their TH500's in the classifieds, which makes me wonder why that amp wasn't the right choice for a lot of people.

A lot of people are going to disagree with me on this... I decided to go from my Eden WT800 to a micro, was only using one side of it anyways . Tried the TH500. I thought it had no life to it. No kick in the pants feeling, then I tried the MBFusion 800 and played with the knobs all night to find my sound. Never found it. I could barely turn it up and I like to push my amp. Didn't like the feel of the pots and every time I turn a knob I ended up hitting the one next to it out of whack. Tried the TH500 one more time and sorry still didn't care for it. Then just by luck I found a Eden WXT500. I wasn't going to get it because I had read several negative comments about it.Set all the tone controls straight up, backed off a touch on the mids and forget it. Plenty of power and very solid in all areas. My cab is a CN212 with a 64 Pbass.
I haven't run either of those amps but I have been running my Jbass into a TH pedal directly into the power amp input of my Shuttlemax 12.2 (bypassing the SM pre) and then into my HD212. I'd assume it's pretty close to the tone of the TH500 and it sounds great, not overly modern/sizzly (unless you crank the treble) and it has some girth to it.
Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong but I think the Aguilar maybe conservatively rated. If I recall the TH500 power module is the same that Genz was using in all their 900 watt amps.
I played Eden for years and then switched to the TH500 for about a year. Tried to convince myself it was great, tweeked the knobs at every gig, tried different cabs but ultimately traded it. Lifeless was a good description actually. I did however love the form factor and build quality. I use the GK MBF 800 now and agree the knobs are easy to bump to an undesired setting, it would be better if they were tighter, but tonally it works for me. Set flat and forget at every gig. I'm using a pair of Bergantino NV115 cabs.

I did try a Markbass Big Bang for a few weeks, IMO it sounded very similar to my Eden WT300 and I would probably have kept it if I hadn't tried the GK MBF800.

I am interested in replies to this question as well. Also in general, how well are the HD212s & HD112s performing in a rock music context?

All great cabs for almost any kind of music. I have 2 AE212's and an HD112, and have used them in various combinations in several genres, including Rock, depending on what stage volume is required. HD's are great, in ways previously described in this thread.
For the foreseeable future, I have gone to Demeter amps. I'm using a VTBP-201 with the Minnie 800D internal mod, and have a separate Minnie when I need to drive two cabs. Pretty compact and tons of slam. When I use the HD112 alone, I usually use a GB Shuttle 9. Don't see myself needing anything else until some violation of Physics occurs.
