My AE cabs definately sounded a little rougher up top than my HT/ER stack, I personally think the HT/ER tweeter sits very nicely, but politely in the mix.

+1 Of course, depends on the mix we are talking about. I guess that is why Jim makes these differently voiced cabs. Again, massive shame that the amazing AE's are no longer offered IMO.

I find my AE212 very polite as is my HT112ER, though that could be the Puma 1000. I find 12's can growl but I sort of miss the ease that a Markbass head can easily achieve this.

Interesting to see clips posted with Hd212 and 2 x HD112 stack, especially against the AE212 and HT/EX stack.

+1 The AE212 is the 'AE for those who don't like AE's'.... like two HT112ER's with the weight of a single one. One of the best cabs ever made, IMO!

And, +1, the Puma is so smooth and clean, just like the AE212. A bit 'too much of a good thing' for me personally, so I power mine with the Markbass F500. With a touch of VPF, I can get relatively close to the Puma500. However, with the amp flat, it grunts and snarls And, with a bit of low mid bump at around 100hz or so, I can at somewhat emulate that upper bass/low mid fatness of the HT112ER.

Of course, with the AE410, that grunt and snarl is doubled!

Let's see if I'm reading this right. You've tried some great-sounding cabs but blew them off just because they're rear-ported? I don't think I'm getting it.

... and the only 15 I've ever liked. Ubone has a couple and they rock.

+1 Mr. Bergantino has discontinued more fantastic models than most other cab makers have ever produced; he appears to be somewhat fickle, but how can one argue with the quality of his executions?

Hi Jazzdogg, we met at Coyotes once remember? Anyway, FWIW, as a small business trying to stay on top of things and still make a profit, pay the rent, etc, you have to be able to turn quickly and react to the market trends. When sales drop off on a particular model, Jim won't order another pallet of drivers for it that just sit in his work area taking up space he's paying rent on. It makes sense that he's only going to sell "X" number of HT115's and then it's going to run it's course. Same reason why Carvin is still selling the LS1503 as a carpeted cabinet, because they have all this black carpet still in their warehouse. I think it's smart to sell all your inventory while it's still selling and not get stuck with excess parts that don't fit into existing or new lines.

Which unfortunately is why I personally won't buy an AE212 & thats sad, gotta have the parts if something goes wrong eh?

....naw...your in the clear. Any Eminence neo driver can be reconed at any local speaker repair recone station. The Neo magnet and speaker frame will still be on this planet long after you'll be needing it.

Got my HD212 today. So far all I can say is HOLY SMOKES! Both my Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 and DB751 seem to be a good match. From some of the descriptions being tossed around both real and conjectured I figured the cab would be a good match for the Aggies. Can't wait until the 10th when I get to test drive it live with The Red Ponie Band.

I was slightly worried about the 79 pound weight but I'm pleasantly surprised how balanced and easy it was to tote around.

Congrats! I was in ye old bass shoppe today and hoisted an HD212 aloft meeself, it was lighter than a few 410 cabs I used to toss around, no biggee. Tone is king.

Hi, Doug. Yes, I recall our meeting.

I can't disagree with his business decisions; he's clearly a very prudent businessman and a gifted cab designer; which other bass cab designers can claim to have hit as many home runs as Bergantino? IMHO, Mr. B has a track record worthy of admiration!

SERIOUSLY thinking about the Berg 212. This is a great cab! I was able to play my gear thru the cab and was amazed! I think this may be his best design yet! Definitely more lows and low mids than the the AE212. It truly is a one cab solution.

Also tried another very interesting combination... The HD210 and HD112. Basically, a modular "HD322". Very articulate!

I have a couple of other 212s or 2 112s, but this seems to be much louder than anything I have tried before.

Just trying to see if I want to haul 1 212 @ 80 pounds or the IP112 and HT112...hmmm...

I did it! Picked up a hd212 yesterday, literally on our way to a gig in Milwaukee! I was really torn between this or 2 1x12's...my drummer was with me to help choose.
He heard this one, and that was all she wrote! Sounded killer at the gig with my new th500!
Can't believe I now really have some great gear! More later and a pic or two.

I tried the HD line in a shop, including the 112 and 212.

IMHO: Not surprisingly, both sound excellent . Much like the HT+HS, but a little more low mid thing happening, and aggressive top end.

I dig the tolex, but they are pretty heavy cabs. The 212 isn't nearly as awkward as most 410s though.

Off topic: What's up with the categorical invalidation of an individual's experience with the engineering/physics dogma? It's neither polite nor scientific.

Congrats with the new cab! What made you go for the HD212 instead of 2 112s? Did one 212 sound very different from 2 112s?
