If you can find one used, try to snag a Thunderfunk. One of the older models will be right in that range and these things really kick out the tones! If you want to go new, look at the Ampeg PF500 or possibly a Carvin.

I want to upgrade to a 500w bass amp but are unsure on what's the best value for money, I have around £500 to spend, I was wondering if any of you guys could help me out ?
I'm getting really interested in the Aguilar Tone Hammer 500. Reviewers say it sounds a lot like a DB751, which is one of the best tones I've ever heard for my taste.
There might nothing wrong with your amp. 300w through the right cab should work fine for most situations. If you are playing through a small cab or so 500w will not help a lot.
DWBass said:I know the GK amps are pretty loud as well. GK700RB (not quite 500w but close enough not to make a difference).

The Aguilar Tone Hammer head is 500 watts. I haven't used it personally, but I'll assume it's pretty swell.

Yep, and that turns me off of them bigtime. If they lie to you on that, they'll lie about other things.Let's come out and state it straight out guys...Less winking and smirking.
The RH450 is as loud as most 500w amps but benches as a sub-250w amp.
