Cushy, dampened (no funny vibrations), light weight, durable, simple, non-permanent - can be removed anytime, and best of all, no more f**ked up silk on your strings. No more having to remove the E-string from the bass just to swap pickups/jacks using some lousy POS plastic clip.
I figured this out a while back but never thought to share it, so here it is.
Ingredients:
* Beer (those under-age can skip this)
* 2 tiny zip ties, The smaller the better. I used 4" long ones.
* Some fuzzy tape or rubber tape from hardware store. Anything cushy with an adhesive backing. Doesn't matter.
* 1 Velcro cable tie... the kind that often comes with fancy instrument cables. You can buy a 10-pack of Rip-Tie lite cable ties for <$7. Just search teh Google for "Rip-Tie Lite". BH Photo has'em for $6.
Directions:
1. Get beer. Open it, take a sip.
2. Take off any hardware on the pickup jack. Fishman pickups have those thingamabobbers for mounting on strings. Remove it with a socket wrench and what not.
3. Run your cushy tape around the jack. This provides a firm grasp for the zip ties and helps to keep the jack from scratching your TP.
4. Run the two zip ties through the eye of the velcro cable tie and around the jack. Pull the zip ties as tight as they will go. We don't want slippage. Cut off any excess plastic with scissors. Don't cut to close or you might ruin the cable tie. See photo below.
5. Attach pickup to bass using velcro tie through E-string hole. Just make sure the zip ties face away from the tailpiece so nothing gets scratched. The velcro tie can run right over the zip tie clutches.
6. Savor the rest of your beer.

Also... it works on Marvin cable tailpieces. Just run the velcro right over the fuzzy dampener he has you install. Works great. The two photos is one with BP-100 (obviously). I just used some leftover fuzzy tape that was lying around. The closeup photo is a Planet-wing pickup with the original zip tie removed, but I kept the rubber hose that came with it.
