welp... "they can groove"... however, I don't ever seem to be in a vantage point to witness it.
I know true live performances when I see them... and what I see with Bruno Mars and his "band" and many other "bands" assembled behind a hip-hop acts doing isn't a live, musical performance. it's fine that these folks are deemed by some as being good players with real ability... but unless you're actually going to showcase that and do it live, then who cares??? at the end of the day, you're not playing your instrument while you're on the clock in your day job. heck, look at Mariah Carey on New Year's Eve -- this isn't just an issue for people with instruments strapped around their necks.
yes, it's sad this is what the "music industry" has become... but it's even more of a sob story that so many people on the planet can't realize when the wool is being pulled over their eyes when it comes to live music and they're satisfied seeing a bunch of guys jump around to choreographed moves. if people spoke out and demanded real performances, maybe things would be different.
