Having a hard time disagreeing with any of these. I'd like to throw in:
Guns 'N Roses - "Appetite for Destruction"
Cream - "Disraeli Gears"
Pearl Jam - "Ten"

Having a hard time picking one. How about all of the above, plus:

"Fragile" by Yes
"Exile in Guyville" by Liz Phair
"Let It Be" by The Replacements
"Drums and Wires" by XTC
"Let It Bleed" by the Stones
"Shoot Out the Lights" by Richard Thompson
"More Songs About Buildings and Food" by Talking Heads

and about a hundred more that I can't think of right now...

The first thing that popped into my 50 year-old head was:
"The Ramones."

Then, "Nuggets: Original Artyfacts From the First Psychedelic Era."
Nuggets, because Garage Rock was punk long before Punk became self-conscious.
And it will show you that you had a taste for Garage Rock that you didn't know you had.
And because of the book that comes in the package.

I'm not a huge rock fan, but Back in Black by AC/DC is perfect for that classic sort of hard rocking thing.

Well, I AM a huge rock fan, and I happen to agree 100% with you. It we're talking "My favorite rock album", maybe its a different story. But, for genre-defining albums, it is VERY hard to come up with an album that is more the definition of rock than Back in Black.

I'll give an honorable mention to GnR's Appetite for Destruction as well.

I'll agree with the many posts ahead of me as to best live album: Allman Brothers Live at Filmore East. Frampton Comes Alive would run a distant second, IMO.

How about Frampton's "other" Live album w/ Humble Pie...Rockin' The Fillmore?
On par with the ABB's seminal Live At Fillmore East, IMO.
