The best Thunderbird??

I'm recently considering buying a new Thunderbird bass, and I know there are a few out there, but I only know about the Thunderbird IV with the mahogany finish, and the Thunderbird Goth, and of course the Nikki Sixx one. At the moment, I was probably gonna go for the Goth, just because I like the look, but does anyone have any better recommendations?

If you have the $ get a Gibson, if not, get an Epi.

Not sure about the sonic differences between the above mentioned by you. I have the IV and love it, and I have the Studio model, and love it too.

FWIW if you can deal with its looks the current Nikki sig model is quite different from standard issue. Maple wings and a VT wiring arrangment give it a darker, tighter sound -abit thumpy, I like mine alot. There will be an S.O.A.D. sig model too, tho I don't know its release date.
I have the first production Lull 'Bird on order - it should be ready in a few weeks. I know it'll be a nice bass, it ought to be with a price tag over 4K. That said, I doubt I'll like it as much as my vintage Gibsons, there's just something about them :)

um.if the goth is what you want i say go for it.i have the regular epi thunderbird IV,and from what i know the goth is exactly the same except for the look and finish of course.the blackbird has different pickups.but i hear they only put off a slightly different tone.either way i know for sure that they are all great basses.

I played Mike Lull T-bass at NAMM last week.
They are infact SICK! His specially would pickups are very close to the old '60's sound. The bass also balances perfectly (on a strap or lap) and does not pull away from your body. Also, the E string is balanced and does not sound anemic as it does on many Gibsons. The body is also contoured on the upper wing so, you don't get an irritated forearm.
Mike is also a really nice guy. He gave me a special demo of the bass. I'm not sure what he is charging but, they are a steal anywhere under $2500.
The current Gibson's don't compare.
