why 86? (the year I graduated HS).

I dig them too! The new one is from eBay right? I think I watched that auction!!

Mine's got the cream Dimarzio's too... but someone painted the covers. I'm gonna remove the black paint if I can.

I think if I'm not mistaken that 86 was the last year of the cool musician like body style. Big and heavy the nice contours, Ash, Dimarzio electronics ect,, Oh and all Ibanez's were MIJ from 86 back. Now I think a majority of ther line is made in Korea or China now? only there higher end stuff is still made in Japan?.
I'm not sure of all this I still have to do my Ibanez homework, I just started my vintage Ibanez lust,,,lol :D Someone correct me if I'm wrong....

The one I just got is from ebay I didn't make reserve and I was ther highest bidder, I made a offer and he took it :hyper:
I never buy basses off ebay or without playing them. I just couldn't resist and I lucked out and it turned out to be a awesome bass. 1981 to boot! The year I graduated from high school.

:) sounds close... I had an EX 4 string from 88 that was a killer little bass (dual reversed split P pickups). I like most non Sound Gear Ibanez. But yeah, mid 80's the Musician/Roadstar/Roadster era was done.

I don't mean to 'steal your glory' , I just got my camera back and wanted to show some pictures. There can be 20 basses I've never played before that are top quality and I'll pick my jazz over them all. :) Someday, I want to get a matching Precision. *dreams*
