The biggest rip off ever...

I think that Punisher is actually a pretty cool design, but no way i'd pay anything over 1K for one.

I mean, in all honestly, KISS isn't that cool to me. Like it's been said before, I think they're entertainers first, musicians second.

Take a look at the store on their website.

See how they sell damn near everything, and the only real hook is that it's KISS-themed? That's what will get some people, and that's what's been getting them for as long as KISS has been in business. Money keeps rolling in, so something's working, and working good.

The love of our contry doesn't make them a good guy, nor does that make him less hateful. take one of the most evil men in the world, hitler, the guy loved his contry and devoted himself in part to the german millitary, but the love of his country doesn't make him a better guy now does it?:hmm:

But still, it cant be denied that gene isn't the best bass player, and that he is more sold out on money than he is the music factor.

So Gene isn't a good guy and is hateful because guy's like you say so, yet you can't give any examples as such. All you give here is convoluted logic.

No one say's Gene is a bass virtuoso. Gene himself never said he is the best bass player or Kiss is the best musicians ( if he did, I would ridicule him myself) All Kiss ever claims is that they are the best Rock-n- roll band. Their concerts start of with "You wanted the best...."you've got the best" That doesn't mean the greatest. While that is a boastful statement, consider their accomplishments against performing bands today. They maybe the last of a dying breed of larger than life rock stars.
Do you see any today that will last 30 years and attain the high level of fame and fortune? that is what Kiss strived for and they have achieved it and they are not bashful about talking about their fame and fortunes.

I've heard him interviewed by a woman and he was a complete cad; it was really shameful. Frankly, I think he hates women or at least his opinion of them in general is very low.

He has plenty of money; how much more does he really need? He'll market any crap for profit. A young struggling band I could understand, but Gene Simmons? $5k for a budget bass and a meet-n-greet?—come now.

Joe Strummer is dead and Gene Simmons lives on. Karma must be a farce.

The impression I get is that he sees them as objects for his pleasure, or fans to fuel his pocket, and that He's a sexist opportunist who will never say no to any girl that will show their chest to him. It's not my place to judge him, we all have faults and crap, but when you've done it for this long, and still don't care, you have to wonder about the guy's moral standing.
And NO, I do not hate Gene Simmons for his lifestyle, I'm just disappointed that such a hero for so many people, kids even, would set the example he has.

Wait a minute... i NEVER said he was purely hateful, to me the hatefulness derives from, (or at least for me,) how arrogant he seems. i might be somewhat wrong, but there are alot of videos of him out there acting mean to other people. maybe "hateful' is the wrong word to use, but wrongfully arrogant might be a more suitable term.

just weighing in on the "fame and larger-than-life, dying breed" thing. Just to put it out there. Rush has been around about as long as them. Maybe a couple of years younger, and they used to sell out stadiums and all that just as much as Kiss, you just heard about it less, and they choose (now) smaller, more sound-oriented places (ampitheaters, concert halls, etc.). They have not had the amount of commercial success, but they have not only charted consistently, but have never given up expanding their ability constantly. They will always give just as much effort as Kiss, play with all their skill, and will not stop making records till their older than the Stones. They have worked just as hard, sober/clean (about 95% of the time, minus Caress of Steel....:)), avoiding empty sex, drug addictions, alcoholism, controversy (unlike Kiss). It's been all about the music. And now they are reaping the reward for letting the quality and depth of their art talk for them and be the show. They are becoming more popular than ever. You've got 3 generations of Rush-ees now. You've got commercial references in KIDS SHOWS (Wizards of Waverly Place, Disney Channel) even. They've handled themselves with dignity and humility when it comes to their success. THEY are truly the dying breed. Every rock band can put on a show, very few can put together an incredible, mind blowing show based purely on the quality of the music, and the humor of some intermission clips. :D

I only hope that I can do that kind of thing.

All true...but why the heck can't they get them in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? I'm a big Rush fan, and I just can't believe that Rush still isn't in yet...sorry for the OT rant, but I heard this yesterday and I was .....

I didn't say they are the only ones, but they do seem to be some the last of them. especially on such a high level of fame that still endures today.

Don't forget, Kiss had Rush support them on Rush's early tours. Watch the film " beyond the lighted stage" and you will see Geddy Lee praising Kiss about their hard work and determination and he also basically says, and I will paraphrase, no matter what people like the Kiss haters on this forum says, he does have respect for them as a band!

Arrogant he is but so were many other bassists like Jaco. Difference is Jaco was arrogant about his playing, Gene is arrogant about his fortunes. is their any difference in their arrogance?

Jaco would say,"it aint braggin if you can back it up"
.

Gene and Paul simply struck gold when they formed KISS. Simple , memorable songs targeted at teenagers that could actually play most of them themselves. The make-up, stage antics, marketing. What other band was selling dolls, lunchboxes, and everything else with thier likeness and logo on them back in the 70's and 80's? I think the fortunes were made off of the paraphanalia through the years although they have sold a ton of records. Just last week, I was at my local car wash and I found an old 8-Track tape case in the trash can beside one of the vaccuum cleaners. Of the 12 tapes inside the case, 4 of them were KISS tapes. Here is a picture...........
