The biggest rip off ever...

Gene Simmons is a snake oil salesman. There's nothing remotely rock-n-roll about this a$$hole. He’s all presentation and little content. And what is his presentation? He's an ugly, hateful, horrible human being. Oh but he's rich, so I guess he's not all bad, right?

Disgusting.

I recenetly had ain incredible experience meeting Gene backstage at a KISS concert adn let me tell you, he is genuine. Paul was great too. In fact, his whole entourage was very nice to us. For 5K, I think it would be a great experience for someone. Have you seen what Super Bowl tickets go for??

Wonder what a his actually worn toupee would fetch?

For that you could buy 2 Rickenbackers and a GL Jazz Bass and a Rush Backstage pass. I'll take that over Gene Simmons' fake blood on a bolt on, basswood, mighty mite-d piece of junk that he probably uses for one song so he can legally sell it as his "stage played bass".

wow...that reminds me so much of my BC Rich Vintage Celtic Virgo that I got and rarely ever play... I'm sure this is much nicer, or it should be considering the price, but the neck and everything looks so similar to me. Oh well, each to their own I suppose.

Personally, I'm not a fan of Gene Simmons or that particular bass. Yet, this thread... I have to wonder why this thread has not been locked yet. While I can see that the OP is objecting to the price - value proposition, or lack thereof, a lot more is being said here that goes beyond the issue of value. :scowl:

Born Chaim Witz, later changing his name to Eugene (Gene) Klein, Gene Simmons is a character he plays.

He is pretty well educated and speaks four languages fluently. The guy knows how to make money. He's smart. If I could sell a $300 bass for $5000, you bet your butt I'd do it.

I think it's stupid that people are paid MILLIONS to play sports or make a movie, but I can't fault them for it. As has been said, "Don't hate the player, hate the game".

What I do find funny is the reaction you'd mostly likely get if you showed up to a gig with a Gene Simmons bass. Especially sporting that case with a big Gene Simmons head on it.

So THIS is where all of the KISS-Haters hang out........ : )
I have loved them for 35 years. Love the Gene. Hes the smartest guy on the planet.
I wouldnt pay 5K to watch a football game either, but thats just me. If you are a huge KISS fan and can afford it, it would be a great experience and you would actually come home with a decent bass. You'll come home from the Super Bowl with ticket stubs.....

Really? what has Gene been hateful of? He loves our country, totally respects are military, appreciates his fans, loves his family and more. I see plenty of hate and jealousy in your posting, definitely 2 characteristics of what makes one a horrible human being.
Like to put him in a room with Tal or Ronda Smith and see what he says then about girls not being able to play bass. I know a few local girls here in L.A. who would eat him alive. He should watch what he says.
Everybody is entitled to their opinion, that's what this forum is about, right? I too disagree with Genes comments about this. Apparently Gene hasn't listened to many women Bassists recently.
Bassdude404] What I find surprising is that anyone is surprised by any money-making gimmick that Gene Simmons or Paul Stanley come up with...Their careers started out with a gimmick, and they're just keeping it going...All show, no go...No big surprise there at all...

All show, no go... well gimmicks only get you so far. many bands came and went with gimmicks but it still takes good songs to sell records. When Kiss made some lackluster albums, look how their sales went down. Whether you like them or not is your opinion and irrelevant. Fact is, Kiss is still one the GO! probably the rock n roll hall of fame and where will you go?
