I try to avoid giving my opinion on war and the military in TB, but I must say this guy is absolutely 110% bonkers. "I got bounced around, because my cover got blown" right, yeah.

The whole time he reminded me of a little kid trying to tell a story but making the whole thing up. All giggly and fidgety the whole time.

I know plenty guys in the US who use that term just as it's used over here. It isn't a "nice" word over here. We are possibly just more desensitised to naughty words?

I understand it is just an abbreviation, but over here during the second half of the last century, it was the context in which it was used, along with the complimentary boot to the head which is why it's classed as a slur over here.

Exactly--in the UK, Pakistanis specifically were demonized on a large scale by skins/chavs/other xenophobes, and the abbreviated name became a "weapon-grade" insult. Here in the US, certainly Pakistanis experience racism, but not on the focused wholesale level that they do/did over there. Here, I seriously bet most folks couldn't tell a Pakistani from an Egyptian. We don't even talk about Pakistan much outside of the supposed Al Quaida connection over there.
