millipedes have more legs. they are the harmless ones, IIRC.
Correct on both counts.
I have kept both centipedes and millipedes as pets. The vietnamese centipede was the most viscious, unpredeictable devilspawn I have ever owned. More agressive than any of my tarantulas. I fed it mice. It would bite them, and after they died from the venom, it would open a hole in the side of the mouse and eat its insides, leaving the skin and bones whole. Man that thing was awesome.
My roommate still has 3 giant african millipedes. The biggest and oldest, Sohpia, died not to long ago. She was about 12" long. Those critters are friendly. They feel like velcro when they walk on you, and when you peel em off.
