When I had The Billy Bass refinished, I had Pat fill the pickguard screw holes so I could use it sans pickguard without having the holes there.

I even cut and glued screwheads onto the pickguard so that when I attached it to the bass with doublesided tape, you wouldn't know anything was amiss.

To be honest, I have used it about 95% of the time with the pickguard attached. I think the Bongo shape works better with it on there.

When I located and scored the NOS 2008 LE, I gave thought to letting go of the Lava Pearl.
Figuring no need for two.
BUT, I am a HUGE Fan of the Lava Pearl Color with white ice pg on the Bongo.
It just fit the loud baaaaad A _ _ personality of the bass.
So I am thinking shelf that idea, and keep the pair

I no longer own a Bongo :<, Tom Clement's basses are too good. My number can be free'd up.

I will probably own a Bongo again in the future, though it will be a 4 or 5 string. No 6 string I've played has been as comfortable as the Clements I own.

I did consider that, actually, but I don't want the raised screw heads bumping up my smooth surface. And to get the screws down really low would open the screw holes up a bit. I hate to do even the slightest damage to an absolutely flawless bass. So far, she has not a scratch on her.

And the screws are black. Maybe if I found orange ones...

I have Ernie ball group III flats on my bongo, and love them. Then again, I'm partial to flats in general. Have a set of cobalts that I have been wanting to put o. The bongo, but haven't had time to do that yet.

I've only had mine for a couple months now, so we're still getting used to each other. One question: Has anyone else noticed a relatively high flexibility level to the Bongo 6 neck? I live high in the WV mountains, where the humidity and temperature levels bounce like Li'l John's pimpmobile, so I'm accustomed to frequent adjustment tweaks, but the Bongo's neck seems to need attention almost every week. I use extra lights with a very low, fast setup.

I wonder if MusicMan should have considered a twin truss rod option. The basses I've owned in the past that featured twin rods were more solid in this instrument-hostile climate.

Anyone else?

I have had my orange one for like 2 yrs almost and it never needs adjusted. It can sit in the case for months and is in perfect tune when I take it out to play it.

My Bongo needs adjustments very frequently. That's why I cant' use it as my one and only 5-stringer: my Bongo just doesn't survive at our rehearsal base where the humidity and temperature level changes like crazy.

The best solution to this are graphite rods in the neck. All my basses with graphite rods (Spector, Fender, Lulls) did not encounter such problem there.

Thanks to all of you monkeys, I was forced.........FORCED.... against my will, to pick this up in a trade. While I just got to noodle at work, in short, it's bada$$. Already working on pulling a fast one for a 5.

Double dang all of you! Stop making me buy or trade perfectly good basses to obtain others!
