You selling that pickguard or keeping it?

I like it! Is that the silver pearloid from Pickguardian?

My Bongo sounded like CRAP by the way today... its probably because I'm so used to 73jbass & his Elixir Nanowebs. The Bongo I traded that had those strings was MUCH smoother, more even thoughout. I usually play EBMM slinkies on everything else

It's a stock Ernie Ball pickguard, and I'll probably end up keeping it.

You have a 5 string HS don't you? If you go to the Perfect Bass they have stock EBMM pickguards in stock. Mine is black pearl, and they happen to have one in stock for a r string Bongo HS for $29.99.

Strings do make a difference too...and properly eq'ing that beast. When I have both pickups even or closer to the bridge pickup, I tend to roll the hi-mids back...otherwise it sounds like crap to me. My favorite is about 25% more of the neck. There are just so many possibilities. I'm currently using some steel Smith strings .102-.46, but may add a set of the Dean Markley nickels I use on my Fenders (.102-.46).

Tried a Reflex HSS yesterday... hated it! Bridge pickup in the wrong position (Like the Bongo) by the way... neck & middle pickup are just split with the neck pickup too high. I'd rather have the Bongo, the EQ blend for sure OR the Reflex HH which is the perfect bass, IMO

Got a price quote for a MIA Oly white, tort, maple jazz... thinking of pulling the trigger for another 4 string. I like the Bongo as a 5 better.

My ASAT, Sterling are nice but I really liked the jazz I played yesterday. The HSS reflex & Peavey cirrus didn't do it for me. Peavey sounded good, just neck wasn't comfortable with my hands

I liked them well enough but for a change of pace, I slapped on a set of Sadowsky flats, and boy, it purrs like a cheetah now. They have become my favorite flats.

Woah, you didnt like the HSS Reflex? To be fair id want the HH like you...

Is the HH Bongo bridge H nice and tight and 'jazz' bass like? At the moment I have a Bongo 5 HH I can buy, but I currently need a Precision Bass for some work/ Love EBMM gear but never tried a Bongo...not once. I want the bridge H to be like a super tight jazz single....burpy and jaco-ish.

Like the Reflex HSS, the Bongo's bridge humbucker is really in your face. I prefer it to be blended with some front pickups... maybe because it can't stand up well on its own, its just missing something thats hard to explain. You can definitely get burpy. If you don't have access to em, check out Ed's videos on the Bongo, youtube or the EBMM site to make sure its what you want.

I'm personally selling my P bass to get a J bass (Mostly because of spacing issues) The J bass is more burpy than the Bongo especially with a maple neck.
Try a G&L L2000\ASAT too, those are crazy burpy.

AND...damn...you still haven't been able to sell that P bass?
