This is what I like about TalkBass... pop a message to the masses, and see what lands on your hook... a little hang, some real world opinions and suggestions, trial and error...

... I know everyone can't do it, for whatever reason, but it's pretty cool when it does happen...

... we are so lucky.

In my experience, the Fearless F112 is the best sounding 12 cabinet money can buy!

Without discounting Greenboy's other design elements, the dedicated midrange and LF drivers in this box make all the sonic difference. Depth and clarity are unmatched, with a sound stage larger than the cabinet itself. Sound reproduction is vibrant and lively, with top-shelf richness and smoothness across the audible spectrum.

I have directly run this cabinet up against others in the same room and in my opinion this is the one to beat. :thumbsup:

Audiokinesis is as it good as it gets. The Thunderchild series is full range and takes dirt pedals beautifully. It's a perfect bass cab for full range. I haven't played the Hathor series, but I suspect that to be even better for taking dirt as it has small paper cones for the highs.

Revsound is outstanding, but go without the tweeter. It isn't needed, and it doesn't work with dirt. The 210 would work for any gig you have. These cabs take eq better than any cabs I've ever experienced. I've learned a lot about what eq can achieve with these cabs.

Barefaced seems like a good option, but I haven't played one.

Hmmm...lightweight, carry w/ one hand, handle 800 watts, accurate reproduction, can keep up with full ensemble onstage, price is not an object. My first choice would be the new generation Acme B212 in the composite box. Pic below and specs attached:

The earlier Acme models were used in Bass Player's reference lab...the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Weighs in at 50 lbs and will run 15 bills for the composite but it's the last cab you'll ever need.

All great guys and all have a wealth of knowledge. They can each point you to the right cab in there lines. I have delt with all three guys and they truly are a eager to help anyone that ask.

That would definitely be ideal theater tour backline for me, but it might be a bit much for a single hand carry up stairs in a smaller club ;)

Does Greenboy make something in a smaller footprint with the same frequency response though?

I've been playing very cleanly through the Barefaced. It sounds great with the overdrive from the Reiner, but that is not a buzzy distortion, so I don't know how it would sound with a Rat or a Muff.

I'm not a big dirt guy, even though I've owned a lot of dirt boxes. That makes it hard for me to judge. The tweeter extends quite high, so maybe a bit too bright with lots of saturation, but since there's no frequency hole between the cone and tweeter, it doesn't sound like a swarm of bees, and I believe the dispersion is good. With the woofer handling all the highs it is noticeably darker, but IMO not colored sounding, as there are no weird peaks that I can hear.

I don't currently have the cables to feed full range audio through the cabinet, so it's hard for me to test.

Everything here sounds very promising, with the exception of the "shrill tweeter" which I'd think would be an even bigger issue with dirt pedals.

The sound quality of this cab sounds like exactly what I'm looking for, but how loud can it still reproduce those qualities?

"P bass with distortion playing Foo Fighters covers" loud?
