IMHO... the active option is only $60 and includes a true bypass for passive operation. I'd say that 60 bones is worth the flexibility.

Mike...I think it compares very well, especially for the price. The fit and finish is excellent and the fretwork is bomb (better than my Fodera by a longshot). It is fun to play and easy to get around on.

When you say better than Fodera, are you speaking in terms of the build, tone, set-up, action, feel, or all of the above.![]()

Seriously, from everything I have seen, the SB5000 looks to be the best buy out there for a boutique style Jazz bass.![]()

Seriously, Ed - you are killing me. I just got over my lust for a Sterling 5 string after seeing you play it in the Shuttle 9.0 review - now this.Every time you review a bass, I want to go out and buy it because you make it sound so good!
The butt end is pretty much the same.
The body is a bit larger than a Jazz, mainly the top horn. The butt end is pretty much the same.
