THE CARVIN SB5000 IS IN EFFECT!!!!!!!!!

Roy. I've had mine about that long. They are great basses. I can't believe how playable mine is. I know you have an ash/maple while I went alder/ebony. I don't get along with ash/maple as a rule but would like to try an SB5000 in that config at some point. Mine is not heavy at all and sounds killer. Enjoy.

This is the first ash/maple I've had from Carvin. I typically favor alder ebony too, but this combination has a satisfying midrange tone that puts me in mind of that other famous Southern California bass.

I have both the SB 4000 and SB 5000 and they are amazing basses. Build quality as well as sound out of the J99S are incredible. I ordered the passive versions and the pickups are wound hot. I decided bare bones with not many options and go with Ash bodies with maple ebony necks. these guitars are very affordable and well worth it. In fact I like the feel and sound better than my 69 Jazz Bass and 62 Precision.

I had a Schecter Stiletto Studio 5 string for the last few years and after trying to get used to the 35" scale neck, I'd finally given up. I'd checked out several basses (Fender Jazz Deluxes, Music Man Stingrays, etc.), but couldn't find one with all the features I wanted or had the tone I was looking for. I'd had a Carvin LB75 fretless for years, and was the only bass I hadn't ever wanted to get rid of. So, I took a trip to the Carvin store and tried a few basses out. They had an SB5000 that I thought had an interesting look to it and was blown away when I tried it out. I could get just about any tone I wanted out of this thing, and the neck, even though it was a little wider than I was used to, felt like "buttah". I would have bought that one, but I didn't like the body color/pickguard combination they'd set it up with, so I noted the features that were on the tag so I could have one built the way I wanted. Got it in about a month, and it's fantastic! Haven't had an opportunity to try it in a group setting yet, but I love this bass! :hyper:
