The Christian Rock Club

This is a club for all of us Christian musicians who play far outside of the traditional praise and worship realm. (Ex. Skillet, Decemberadio, Petra, etc.) This includes metal, prog, etc. Christin bands that are a far cry (Rush pun most certainly intended :D) from what they play on sunday morning in church, but still try to carry God's message through most if not all of their songs. So stand up and be counted as a believer, and a rocker! :bassist:

I do secular music now, and play for the worship team of my church, but I got involved in and played what would later evolve into Christian Rock and CCM back in the 70's, and stayed involved in doing Christian music on up through the early 90's. I got to meet and see quite a few of the pioneering artists of Jesus Music, and be in a few groups that opened up for some of these artists as well. My tastes probably lean more towards such artists as Glenn Kaiser of Rez Band and GKB Band fame, the late and great and still controversial Larry Norman, Daniel Amos Band, Phil Keaggy, and other old school Christian rockers, but yeah I'd like to be considered for your club.

You're in mi compadre. :D

I would love to play this style but for now I play in a simple p&w team and a secular cover band. The secular band does have a lead guitarist who is a WL in another praise team so two out of six of us are in active WT's. No hope of this band going that direction though. Sometimes I sub for his bass player and his church does "rock out" quite a bit more than mine.

Yep, I play on the worship team and play in a Christian originals hard rock band called Wales Road. We play out at bars, churches, music stores, pretty much anywhere. We also get played on one of the local secular radio stations here in Rochester fairly often. We go back into the studio in January.

Actually, I'm glad this thread came up, because I was wondering what Christian music someone could recommend that's more interesting musically. My wife likes bands like Hillsong and Casting Crowns, etc. - and while I like their lyrics, I gotta admit that I find their music kind of boring. The only example I can think of is King's X, but they don't really consider themselves a Christian band, per se.

But anyways, that's the kind of thing I'm thinking of...Christian lyrics, but music that's also interesting to listen to.

I started a Christian blues band (Seventh Time Around) earlier this year, but it's not only blues. We also do old spirituals (Wade In The Water, Poor Wayfaring Stranger, Go Down Moses, Rock In A Weary Land, Swing Low Sweet Chariot) in a variety of styles. Most of the blues songs are originals, and we also do a variety of other covers (Bad Moon Rising, I Can See Clearly Now, Softly And Tenderly, other hymns and old gospel tunes).

But we recently lost our drummer, so I'm putting together drum tracks to practice with until we find another.

I've played (in some capacity whether in the studio, filling in, or touring member) for the following christian artists...
Jeremy Camp, Stephanie Smith, Britt Nicole, Toby Mac, Krystal Meyers, Day of Fire, Superchick, Charlie Peacock, Sarah Kelly, Kerrie Roberts, Lanae Hale, Sea Bird, B Reith, and others...
Christian music has been very good to me! Been blessed to work with such great artists...glad this forum was finally created...

Threads involving religion are only allowed in the Lobby. The only reason the Christian Praise and Worship thread is allowed to exist is because the particulars of church/praise playing differ from other gigs, and the discussion of that musical style is still music-related. This is the reason the Athiest Bassists Club is in the Lobby (although atheism is not a religion, the content of most of the posts have to do with religion). As the OP is not a supporting member and thus not able to access the Lobby, I'm going to close this rather than move it there.

To the OP- if you'd like me to reopen this thread and move it to the Lobby even though you can't view it there, let me know and I will do so.
