The Clash... Overrated????

I suppose in a modern context the Clash seem over rated. It is kind of like watching movies from the 60's and 70's. "whats all this boring stuff in between the gunfights?".
That's called character development. We used to have that in movies back the day.
In a similar vein I don't think Johnny Cash would get signed todayif he was a new up and comer. He coudlnt dance very well, and wasn't a fancy dresser. Heck half of his songs he didn't sing, so much as talk-sing the lyrics. Still, he is the man in black!
But back to the Clash, compared to the contemporary music of the time it was a landmark. Next to wanky ego driven rock and coke fueled disco The Clash was a shining beacon of real music.

London Calling is one of my favorite albums, I can't even count how many times I've listened to it all the way through in the car, and enjoyed every second of it!
