Cool idea. For me, of course, it'll usually be the 67 TBird and R200c-with or without the R112.

Today's(Sunday gig it was the EpiBird 5er and 200c; tomorrow's nursing home gig, it'll be the Ibanez semi-hollow and R40 w/ the Squire as backup. Other pics later-in front of garage, of course.

I'm always in a quandary which one to gig with, but definately my two favs are the EBMM Stingray and the 4003 RIC, but some venues are really suitable for both/either my Peaveys... the T-40 and my Peavey Dyna Bass of nearly 30 gigging years which I love to bits...gosh darn now I dunno what to use next week as they all sound good at MOST venues loll At least the Rumble Combo rig is constant lol

Some folks do get bent outta shape if you don't love "their" bass. I don't 'hate' any bass. I don't particularly like P's 'cos to me they're uncomfortable to play. I prefer my Gibson Thunderbird; partly b/c I've been playing it since 73. B4 it I had a 66 EB-3(seeing a pattern here?). I like the skinny Gibby/Epi necks for my shortish fingers. Also I 'sling' my bass(es) low which doesn't work with some other brands. I get a major kick out of those who claim TBirds are only good for hard rock/metal. Right! I use mine for jazz(combo and big band),concert band and the 60s-70s rock group I'm in. Come to think of it, it's never played metal and very little 'hard' rock. Tell that to "genpop" and they'd possibly go into cardiac arrest. Just for grins, my menagerie:

Yeah that Les Paul style 4 string with the F Clef holes NOT stuffed with cotton wool and the Gretsch style headstock is a really purty looking bass. With my chronic eyesight and specs that are 10 years outta date it looks like an Ibanez maybe, not to mention that lovely 5 stringer too? Really nice.

ps. Heard anything about Lou Gramm's health...he had that nasty brain tumour removed about 1996..from memory he still lives in your area.

As far as I know he's doing fine. He's actually been doing a few gigs with Foreigner. I believe he has announced he's retiring though.

Thanks Biggy...yeah he's old enough to give it a miss now and I know he gained a heap of weight after that operation..I met him and his bass player at the time Bruce Turgon when they toured here in Adelaide about '95 with the Doobies..great band Foreigner were at that time and earlier stuff was great. Thanks again for the update.

Yes so Ive heard..Black Sheep go back a long way into early Foreigners history and its members..from memory Bruce Turgon was also in Black Sheep but you better correct me if im wrong loll..i often am.

Found that bass on my local CL for $120. Major closet queen. Liked the way it played so much I spent $140 on a TV Jones Thunderblade pickup for it. Now it sounds as good as it plays!

It's a 96 LPB25, which means Les Paul Bass 2, 5 string. They were made for not quite 2 years. Bartolini's are stock. Flame maple on solid mahogany-not light. It would probably sound good through a 6x9 car speaker. I just don't use either of my 5ers that much. When I found it-at a store in Ft. Lauderdale-the sales guy hooked it up to a BIG amp. I turned off the volume on the bass. I wanted to see how it felt. Picked it up the next day. Kinda melted a credit card to get it but I wasn't gonna let it get away.

Cool idea, Giff. Me thinks GP has already begun the project. It'll give our amps a slightly different look to them. I know, pick a pic that tells a little story about you. It'll be fun to read the tales of yesteryear. Have fun!

Here's a blast from the past contributed by yours truly. This one goes back to the summer of 2011. I was playing bass for our community concert band and we had a 4th of July outdoor show (literally at a park with trees, bushes, and stuff) and I needed more power than for our inside gigs. So my kid loaned me his GK cab to go with my Ampeg B-2 combo. It put out 200 watts alone but bumped up to 350 watts at 4 ohms. I felt like a king! Used my first Rogue bass and had a pretty good sound...for outdoors. Packing up was a hassle with those two very heavy cabs (for some reason, I was too excited to notice during setting up). Sheesh, that 'Peg amp was around 90 lbs by itself.
