Fell (and not so fell) Comboites,
I’m officiating a wedding for two of my best friends from college next weekend and was asked to provide a sound system. Rather than rent one unnecessarily I carried my two Rumble 100 combos and a mixer out back onto the porch, plugging my iPhone into the mixer. I cranked it up and the music was conversation level around the perimeter of our large back yard (50-120) feet from the porch), so more than enough for what’s needed. Sounded just fine, too. Not as good as my stereo, but a whole lot easier to haul and set up / tear down. I knew this ought to work, but always prefer to check first!
I had to involve the mixer because if you plug into a Rumble’s Aux Input, you bypass the Send jack, meaning you can’t daisy chain the amps. That’s fine; the couple didn’t ask for mics but I’ll take a pair, anyway since the mixer is there. With this crowd, we may well end up with some live music and/or singalongs/faux karaoke as well.
I’ve done something similar for a movie night out back, but everyone was in close proximity that time.
