The Combo Club

after over 2 years of trouble with my hartke hd75 and have to send it back 3 times, i got a warwick sweet 15 from a friend for 200€. its as good as new, got played only a few times 10 yrs ago or so. since then it was just used as furniture.

really like it so far, and i´m finally loud enough

...and i don´t have to see the dang hartke ever again. after the third time sending it back, thomann wrote me an e-mail that they don´t think i´ll get happy with it and they take it back and gave me 70% of the original price. :hyper:
more than i would have got if i had to sell it (i couldnt even sell that POS for mor than 20 without having a bad conscience)

basst scho, for surviving your Hartke nightmare, I hereby reward you with a membership number to be handed out tomorrow night upon my return to the man cave. You deserve it too. Best of luck with your Warwick. There may even be a spam sammich in it for ya. Welcome!

Its an acquired taste definately. A big spoonful in a mug topped with boiling water makes for a soothing broth if you have a cold. Dont add extra salt..lol

So, it's medicinal. The way we do it up here is boiling water with scotch or rum and a bit of butter. Makes you "feel" a whole lot better, especially after the third or fourth one. Take it from one who knows...o_O:sour::sleep:.

My setup for a show this past Friday. That MB210-II has a tight sound. Not too bassy, not too crisp. Just perfect.

'jet, I like the sunburst finish on your bass. Real clean looking. I had a first gen GK 210 and found it much the way you explained what you hear.
Thanks, it's a lovely finish. G&L calls it cherryburst. I wasn't keen on it when I first bought it, but now it's one of my favorites. The first gen GK of yours had the metal grille, right?

Yep, metal grille and some gremlins which haunted many of those amps. It was GK's entrance to foreign-made amps. I bought both the combo and extension cab. The cab was returned bad out of the box and the amp was traded in after numerous problems occurred.

The factory even forgot all the bolts on one of the tens, but Bob Gallien came through himself and squared it away. I definitely have more confidence in the home-grown versions like yours though.

Yeah, that's a sweet cherry burst!

I was encouraged to join the club with my Crate CR-165B. This thing sounds great, especially for something I found in a friend’s attic shortly after I started playing in 2000. View attachment 3082894

Yep, that was me! Thanks for jumping on, ItsmeSantiago. Our club enjoys combo amps of all shapes, colors, and sizes, but I've found they really enjoy the unique the most. Flip through our pages and you'll see what I mean. I just got home and will be handing membership numbers sometime this evening. Put us on your watch list and welcome to our little fan club for combo amps!

G-Dog 54 where are you?

I know where I am..100 miles from home on a 4 day holiday for my wifes birthday. I have my laptop with me so I can keep in the loop with my Combo Club Brothers and Sisters. Home by Friday thankfully..they only have Vegemite in those little hotel/motel plastic packs..and half of them look like theyve been there since 1965 when this motel was built. Bit of a worry as the guys name at the reception desk is Bates lol.
Im missing the 7 girls and my lovely Rumble rig too..see you all soon but i'll check in quickly every day if possible with this defective Motel free wifi.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have met this club's objective: to control an Australian man completely. Proof? He ditches his basses on his vacation, but does bring his laptop in order to canoodle with his Combo Club buddies. Sweet!

Enjoy your holiday, Giffro. I didn't bring my bass either this past weekend, but tonight will be a different story.

I would like to join this elite group, I don't have space for a big cabinet and head setup so I rock a KB12. A little 28lb monster.

The word is absolutely yes, you may join this elite group of non-elitist types who enjoy music, bass playing, and amps like yours. That's a nice portable rig you have yourself, Smith357. I've wondered how that particular amp sounds. Pretty good from what I've read. Your number will arrive momentarily.

Alas she went back to the vendor. Turns out I needed more power so I got the BA110v2. Can’t beat that Ampeg tone! :)

I was trying to make a joke== humble plays Rumble.....:bag:

Hey alaska, I'm re-reading posts to make sure I don't miss any newbies and when I came across this again i thought to myself, you have to ask how the man from the Final Frontier's BA110v2 sounds. Is the volume better for you now, or are you thinking the 112? That 110 has been a pretty popular model for Ampeg. When ya get a spare minute, please let us know how you're liking it and what the differences are between it and the 108. Thanks.

PS: I'm humbled by your humbling-type joke!

Members of the Combo Club, I call you to order. Due to the recent rash (a good thing) of new members added on to our esteem roll, I am yet again updating you with the latest membership roster (a great thing). Gee, I'll go away more often if the benefit is we increase our club size. Folks, were down to five spots left before the magic 100 is reached and Soul Reflection hosts a huge party with tons of food, drink, and best bass recordings. Or was that G-Dog? I'll have to check my notes. Nope, wrong on both counts...it's JakobT preparing some of his famous Norwegian delicacies! Let's go get us a few more combo lovers!

Without any further adieu, here's the latest list:

Congrats to us all, keep this club healthy by joining the conversation. Oh yeah, just received a note that Dr. Cheese wants to work with Jakob to create an international food sensation. Hey, if it's got cheese on it, I'm giving that a big thumbs up. Thanks again to our newest members, Beendown139, Relayer71, basst scho, itsmesantiago, and Smith357. Welcome to the coolest club this side of a bass clef.

Your humble secretary,
