It's the Orange Terror that holds my imagination now thanks to someone here. The PJB BG-400 combo alone is probably enough for all the area gigs that [aren't happening now]. The Elf and pair of PJB Cab 27s is just something else again 
What I'm here practicing now goes through my BA108v2 Plus most of the time. While it's truly inspiring to hear the big rigs in full flight, I'm working on my technique. I pipe the metronome off my smrtphhn into the 'Peg and let it rip. .... An Orange Terror would bring something else to the table <scrim smack> 
um, for live, which very few people have right now. The baby Ampeg it is.

As a couple of you saw, I couldn't resist a little comment over there, but it's true that Rumbles EQ differently than anything I've ever played through. They take a little "getting used to". The lack of heft I got used to very quickly.

I tried to act my age. I'm one who right here in this club has complained about Fender's muddy bottoms, so I'd be a liar not to admit it. but I must admit after some of you threw out ideas to clean it up I've found my 100 to be more musical than what I heard before. That tone is part of the Fender legacy and if it's not for you then buy something else. The cool thing is there's so much out there to choose from!
Swwwweeeeeeeeet! Beautiful bass. Love a maple board on a P, although my current P is rosewood. Had a candy apple red with maple neck P that I picked up on the cheap in the 90s and only sold it cause was offered WAY too many smackeroons. I'm not generally a fan of blue bass, but when I am, I prefer tidepool!Ladies and Gentlemen of the Combo Club...

And if I recall, thanks to someone here also influenced you into adding the + in your BA-108 v2+, and it makes me smile every time you mention how much you play through that little darling. Now, concerning the TB, it would be for your alter ego, the Suzi Quattro deep in your soul, taking no prisoners. Heck, ya got enough cabs to mess with, though I'd vote for your Cab 27s. You might have to move out to the countryside!

So true. The weight/price things appealed to me from the get-go. Following the EQ tips has made them even better investments. The buttons have made it easy to match the rooms I play with minimal EQ tweaking(or twerking).
I don't like the way 7ender necks feel-I'm used to skinny Gibby necks. I don't hate 7ender basses; they just aren't right for me.

Your final sentence says it all. If it's worth owning, it's worth not giving up on dialing in a usable tone. Now I wonder had I kept my 500 head and 115 a little longer I would've learned that earlier.

Thank you, Mr. b! Since I first saw that tidepool color I have been entranced. I only hope it looks as good in real life as it has in the pics. Haven't had a maple neck for a few years and thought it was a good time for something different. It might balance my overall tone which always seems to be on the darker side.
Yeah, but are any of us ever gonna reach that cost/tone/weight Nirvana? And if we do, for how long 'til sumthin' else gives us GAS?
And you can become an educator and experience all of those in just one day!

In that uncertainty of where I may be what I'm seeing when travel opens up is a new short scale. Keep a PJB Double Four in Europe. Should a bass stay there? Seems to me that would be all right to simplify travel here and there.What I've got my eyes on is the G&L Tribute Fallout maybe in red or surfing green. The maple boards will look good with that old style headstock. Looking at October for that .... perhaps ....
(sigh) Me too, also. I got just the tone I wanted Monday night(not my amp). By next Monday, those settings will have been changed and I'll be off on the quest again.
Make it a red D4 and you'll rule the world, or at least Europe!

I'm even considering building a rumbler cage around my current combo as a statement. (realizing that my B-2R is in another level of depreciation by the TB community, I think I stick with that

So here's an actual combo question for Morrighan, FL, or anyone else with a Phil Jones combo with a limiter built in. Are you using it? How does it differ from a compressor pedal?
