The Combo Club

We just finished up in Moab Utah. Despite the formerly severe alcohol regulations in UT, there were MANY breweries (and distilleries) in the town and the several I tried were outstanding. My fav was a Double IPA. Outstanding Cascade hops, great maltiness, and ABV +/- 9.6% Made for fun practice with my Amplug ‘combo’ and the single cutaway JB I built. After a day fighting gusty cross winds, we head to California Sunday. Many good micro brews and micro distilleries where we are headed.
Sounds like a fun trip. Enjoy, be safe

'Cept Scotch-or Irish-Whisky. Single malt for me.
While I enjoy a nice peaty, briny, smoky single malt whisky, I also enjoy lighter Irish (triple distilled, smooth and delicious in coffee…) or blended Scotch whiskies when the temperature is warmer. Great on some rocks with generous splash of water, club soda, or ginger (beer) ale.

As I’ve gotten older (but not wiser..) I now appreciate beer cocktails much more. The Radler and the Chelada or Michelada are awesome, and allow you to keep hydrated while staying “social”!
The radler is beer blended with citrus soda or seltzer- Polar Beverage grapefruit seltzer is one of my favorites!
The chelada is what some folks know by a “red beer”- beer mixed with V8, tomato juice, or (better…) Clamato juice. Add squeeze of lemon, splash of Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco and a shake of celery salt or (yum…) Old Bay seasoning for a bloody-Mary like delicious cocktail. Serve iced.:thumbsup:

I did a an engineering project in Utah a year or two before they hosted the Winter Olympic Games. At the time you could order a shot and a beer but you had to down the shot first then they’d pick up that glass before putting your beer in front of you. Yep, only one glass at a time. IIRC there was no such thing as a double. Anyway, they probably got the word that the European sports fans would burn the state to the ground under those conditions.

I dislike fruit-flavored beers but one brewpub just outside downtown SLC made a raspberry ale that was stellar. It had the flavor without the too common excess sweetness.

I always go a for a local brewer, so my brands change as I change location. I'm always up for a light lager in the summer, a darker ale in the winter and a 15" driver.
He said 15 inch... ;)
I'd bet this driver is a cheapo like the 25. I want this...SPL [email protected]/1
