We have an outdoor gig at the end of the month. My R100 would do the job nicely but we all know how bass frequencies can get 'lost' outside, soooo, R200c it is.

Definitely bring out the battleship, GP. The cruiser might work, but worry? Maybe even see about adding a 115 extension cab to it for full effect. Oooh, interesting!

As I wish you all a pleasant good night, I have to remark on just how busy this place has been the past week. It's been great to welcome in so many new members with their assorted combos. We're 53 members away from the magic 300 mark, so get out there and promote us when you can for those who think they might enjoy being a part of this great club.

One final note that brought it full circle for me today and that was Lowbrow's two pictures of his amplifier arsenal. Looking at his second pic, he displayed an Acoustic B20 combo that he himself complimented. That same B20 was my first combo amp back in 2009, when I switched from a Strat to the Jazzer. I too thought that little guy sounded great with a single 12" driver plowing through basically whatever I could learn that moment; it was so much fun. I don't care how old or experienced I get, I hope to never lose that feeling of excitement playing a musical instrument and making someone smile afterward. Thanks, Lowbrow, for reminding me of that summer!

PS: Does anything look kinda funky in this pic?

I'm looking to buy a new RB to gig with in my band. We're doing a mix of folk rock and some 70s nuggets but I'd like to get an amp that's not only good for that but classic rock, blues and funk too. I own a V4-B with the 212AV and a good ole B-50R but I want something more powerful than the 50 and a little easier to lug around than the V4-B(definitely keep'n this rig for the bigger gigs and the 50 for practice). I've kinda got my eyes set on the RB-115 and the RB-210, however I've got no interest in bringing an extension cab to get the max watts if I'd even need it. Anyone have experience trying out both and which would gig better? The tonal differences between the two?

I've also been reading about the RB-112 and how it pumps it's full 100 watts into it's internal speaker - that brings me to this technical question: Does an amp that's able to pump its full wattage into its internal speaker sound/feel different than the two models above that pump about half of their power into their internal speakers? Particularly the BR-115, this pumps 100 watts into a 15" speaker. Is that a different feel than 100 watts into a 12" on the BR-112?

Yes!!! You NEED a Rocket Bass combo! Get the 115 or the 112!! Or the 210 if that works for your needs!

I went RB-115- I just like the full warm sound of a 15" speaker- plus I have an extension 210 cab 8ohm 100W so the 115 was sort of perfect for me!

Nah, unnecessary. This ain't like the amphitheater in some of my posted videos. It's a relatively small VFW in Jensen Beach, FL, on a Sunday afternoon. Prolly a cookout which kinda sux for me due to dietary restrictions brought on by the colonoscopy 3 days later.

Here is a pic of me playing with the Rumble 100. I have it behind me sitting on top of a Rumble115 cabinet and you can see the 500 head on top of the Rumble 100. I had backup incase I thought the R100 would be too small to handle the job. Both did well thank you. The other is just a shot of both in my basement. I'd like to join the club.

Brought the GK MB212-ii out, probably still considered the king of combos imo. A full 500 watts available and x2 12's it capable of serious thunder, but still a one handed carry.

'Tis true. I like to wait until we're in a big crowd before the socks go on though. #2 just loves that look. The cool thing is, to all our youngins' out there, when you hit a certain age (mine was 50) you don't give a hoot about what anyone thinks, especially those under 30!

S'hound, how are ya? Thanks for stopping by to add your name to our roster of who we refer to as "comboites." With all that awesome gear you possess and are showing us while gigging, I would be insane not to let you join us immediately (also, against my own rules)!

F'walZ, allow me the honor of adding you to our esteemed roster of combo owners. I looked through my doc and cannot find you, but that pic is too perty not to give a membership number to its owner. Let me know.

As far as a king's coronation, there may be those out there who'll disagree, but it won't be me. I'd agree with you, the 212-ii set the pace for the supreme-sized bass combos, and as you said, is still lite enough to haul with one hand. If anyone feels otherwise, this is the forum to do tell us, in a positive way, of course.

The only one at the top of my head that might challenge is my Fender Stage 800. 400 watts into its internal 210s, and another 400 watts into an 8 ohm 210 cabinet. But I'm not done yet. I can also add another 8 ohms 210 cab creating a 610 down to 2.667 ohms impedance and it won't blow up! Right now I don't know of any other currently-sold combo that'll do that, but if there is, someone I'm sure will mention it.

Now, what if I could find an 8-ohm 410 cab? Two of those along with my internal tens? Let's not even ponder the thought!
