I don't know if there are any retailers in the US who have them (none that I've seen). But you can get them direct from the Status-Graphite website. That's where I got my set. They have great customer service too

The Status Tapewounds are my faves of the few that I've tried. They have a much more standard gauge, which means Status must use a lighter gauge roundwound string beneath the tape. Results in a very low tension string (which I love). They also have a very smooth feel (better than the Rotos I had), and they have black silk wraps which I think looks best. The GHS 3060 are my fav.
I dig there 105-E string.
Nice tone.

How is the tension on the GHS 3060's? Do you think that they would be safe to put on a ABG? I have read about instances of people putting flats or tapes on ABG's and causing top sinkage, bridge lifting and neck issues from the added tension. Any thoughts?
BTW, the bass I'm considering the tapewounds for is a Martin ALternative X Bass. It has an aluminum top, so I'm not as concerned with the top sinking as I am with the bridge/neck issues. Right now, I am considering the GHS or Status tapes.
Any thoughts?
I haven't tried the GHS tapes, but I think the Status tapes have the lightest gauge / lowest tension of all of them. They were simmilar to TI Jazz Flats (maybe even a little lighter), so I think they would be safe for acoustic basses. Very low tension.
Just found this thread, its a great list. Has anyone got any links to clips of tapes on fretted basses? or even clips of their own. I'd love to hear them!
I dunno. The Status tapes have the same 105 E, and they felt like a simmilar tension to the TI Jazz Rounds I use now, which are an .89 E. So they're very light gauge
The filament strings feel almost as if they are wrapped in cloth. Very unusual. There was a P bass in a shop here with those on it. I thought it was so odd.
They sound pretty much the same as the wrapped tapes. A bit brighter perhaps. Not as slick feeling.
Does anyone know how long the extra long La Bella tapes are? I need a B string that is at least 38 inches from ball end to nut for my Dingwall. I love these strings on some basses and I would think that they would rock on the Afterburner for my church gig.
Does anyone know what's going on with Status Graphite? Can't order online and they have not responded to any emails I have sent.
My first emails took a day or too before getting a response as Rob was not in the shop. I wish they were closer because I am really liking the strings.
