Just recently sold fretted 5 with a carved Cherry top and Pau Ferro fretboard...

No longer owned fretless 5 with a pretty wicked Quilted Maple top alongside the fretted Birdseye...

My Conklin Jake Kot fretless 5:

It only weighs 8 lbs, has piezo pickups, coil taps, active/passive switch, 3 band EQ, speed ramp, Hipshot detuner on the low B. The output jack area has a blanked-out spot for the addition of a MIDI output.

So does that make me #6?

I love that body shape, it looks pretty comfortable to me. Are you planning on having MIDI added at some point?

I keep debating it, but probably not. I've already got a MIDI Strat, so having it on the bass is no big advantage for me at this point. If this were my main gigging bass I might consider it, but I hardly ever play it these days.

Dragonwood body, hollow, approx. 100 mm thick.
Maple and Purpleheart 7-piece neck with rosewood fingerboard.
Bartolini pickups, RMC bridge with piezo pickups and HexaDrive preamp with GK connector.
Black finish with gold specs. Gold hardware.
Fantastic bass!

Here's a pic of my old fretted and fretless customs alongside my Groove Tools. While I absolutely LOVE the customs for their playability, incredible build quality, feel, etc., nothing touches that GT tonally. I swapped out the MK-1's for US Barts and put in an OBP-3. It is sonic bliss for *my* ears! My customs couldn't touch it. It's got a bark that would scare a Warwick or Euro Spector. I just wish the neck was a tad wider. Regardless, I'll never sell that GT.
