4 band or 3 w/multiple mids generally opens up a fretless for a very wide range of tones. I generally cut the treb and boost the bass all around, then add low mid when I'm using the neck and high mid for the bridge.

I'm in. GTBD-7, and I'm still figuring out what I want on my Conklin custom bass in the not-too-horribly-distant-future.

I have a question regarding the models GT7 and GTBD7 : do they share the same string spacing at the bridge??

Nope. The Bill Dickens has tighter spacing. Not sure of the specific difference, however.

You don't want to do that. Trust me.
the bd has tighter spacing at the nut - that i'm sure of. the nut on the gt7 is 2.25" wide, while the nut on the bdgt7 is 2" wide.
from what i understand, however, the bridges on both of them are the same spacing. i'm not certain of that though, but i'm pretty sure that's the case.

Sorry my camera is so awful. 
This is my Conk BDGT 7. I love it, but it's heavy, and I'm doing less studio work and more live playing, so I'm thinking about selling it, but not yet. Note the nifty brass nut - the only one in existence, as far as I know - the original one was split when I bought it, and then Brian at the Low End shaped and installed the brass one. You can't tell from the pic, but his installation job is so good it might as well be original. So please be hookinz me up with a number!

I thought the bridge was tighter as well. If not, my bad. Sorry, six.
it might be, but tbh i sorta doubt it. i don't think westheimer would have bothered with another bridge just for the bdgt7s. it might have felt a little tighter just because of the nut spacing.
however, i own neither of these instruments (gt7 or bdgt7) - just customs
so my experience is limited to just checking a bunch out over the years.
