@Suresh - Get the case directly from Conklin. It costs a little more, but it's a decent case. Similar to DougD's observation, I only read negative reviews about the Groove Tools case.

I contacted Conklin & received excellent customer service. Who replied to my email? Bill Conklin himself. The guy should be designing/building incredible basses. Meanwhile, there he was replying to my mundane email concerning a case. The bass I currently own is the GTBD-7, but I really want to get a custom Conklin built one day. I look forward to that day.

i don't really need a number, and would feel weird with one since i barely use this ginormous bugger, but Mssr. Turner told me it was an odd color for a GT-7.

very nice bass. love noodling around on it, but my Dingwall AB I is my main bass right now.

Thanks for the infos guys! i really appreciate it.
I ve found a guy selling a GT7 witha tweed case.and he is slling the case seperately for $90 so I grab it!.It's on its way to me...I ll post some shots when it arrives.
next thing I wanna do is:
REPLACE THE BRIdGE with an adjustable /roller saddles type, so that I can get an even spacing BETWEEN the strings..Any one ever do that?suggestions please..

Conklin Sidewinder hollowbody 9-string. Al Caldwell signature model, and owned by himself. (Al now plays Benavente basses, I believe.)

34" scale.
Dragonwood body, hollow, approx. 100 mm thick.
Maple and Purpleheart 7-piece neck with rosewood fingerboard.
Bartolini pickups, RMC bridge with piezo pickups and HexaDrive preamp with GK connector.
Black finish with gold specs. Gold hardware.
Fantastic bass!

Purchased for parts off of eBay for $250. Pulled the frets, refilled the slots with mahogany veneer, epoxied the finger board, stripped the finish and red stain, padauk inlay, new pick ups, new bridge (pups and bridge were missing when I bought it). Total cost: $500

Here's a question for you Conklin owners--I "rescued" a Walnut GT-7 from a pawn shop here in Nashville about 10 years ago for $585 and while I've never opened it up other than to change batteries, it seems my pickup selector knob is wired backwards(i.e., currently, when I turn it counter-clockwise/left of the center detente, I get more bridge pup, and when I turn it clockwise/right of the center detente, I get more neck pup)--is this how they're wired at the factory or is my bass indeed wired backwards? Seems odd, but wanted to ask.

BTW, I LOVE the tone I get with the stock Barts and the (presumably) stock preamp(pup selector moved to get slightly more bridge pup--I swear it's close to Jaco territory!), but I may upgrade from the Mighty Mite to the Aguilar at some point.

Sounds normal - if you imagine the top of the knob aiming at the pickup direction rather than the bottom.

Count me in ,i own 3 Conklin 7,play one as my main instrument since 1995.
One is a GT7 fitted with RMC piezzo bridge pickups and preamp with 13 pin connection
I thinking of selling it or trading it for another BDGT as I sold my Vg88 and Vbass
