The dreaded search for tone...

I currently use a gk 700rb ii, and I love it but when I try other amps, especially class d amps(markbass, ampeg, genz) they just seem like they are missing something and I think I figured it out. They don't have the boost knob that my gk has.

Now my question: I've never got a chance to use the mb series amps by gk. Do they have the same tone in the eq section as the 700? I don't use the bi amp feature because I don't have bi amp gk cabs(2 avatar tb-153s and 2 markbass ny 121) anyone who does use class d, have you noticed a lack of bottom end rumble in them or am I just crazy? I also see the mb 500 and 800 have that boost knob, does it compare to the 700rb ii?

Suggestion: Order an MB500, MB800, or both from Musician's Friend. They have a 45 day return policy so in effect you'd be renting a head or two for 45 days just for the cost of shipping them back. You'd have a month and a half to do all the comparing you want to do.

I do not have a 700RB, but do have a MB500 and a 400RB. The boost is very similar on both, but the bottom end is somewhat more substantial on the 400RB. I find the MB500 clearer than the 400RB. What I use depends on the tone I want. I enjoy playing through both of them.
