I have the same problem with the concept of my "dream bass" as I found I had with my "dream woman" - what if it's a bad dream? She's still the woman of my dreams, yeah, they're just bad dreams now...

i'm actually in the very beginning stages of building this now out of an old lyon by washburn i paid $20 for. and by that i mean its apart on my pool table while i save money for parts and research how to rout the pickup slot without destroying everything. also would have a body color headstock which wasnt an option, and red outline on the pickguard. quarter-pound pups, tone knob and individual volumes with side jack. and ditch the dorky clover leaf tuner keys for y-shape.

i have had a strange relationship with pbasses. For the longest time I always saw them as the pocket players bass. I had always preferred narrower necks but every time I picked up a P I really enjoyed it.Crazy sound.I've also always wanted to try that Dimarzio Split P.

Chambered and bound mahogany body, flame maple cap, Barts, BA1, flamy 3 piece, bound maple neck, stirped ebony board, MOP bird of prey inlays, Gotoh ultra lights.
Head stock back angled and with an strped ebony veneer. MOP makers inlay.
Body copied from a 56 P, neck from a 75 Jazz.
Custom built by an Australian luthier.

Looking like b&b necks and MM bridge pickups are the new 'burst and tort.
I haven't seen the p+mm combo outside of TB, much less in the wild. What's it like?

Ha! I noticed that, too. Normally, I get weirded out by conformities of such, but this one makes me giddy for some reason! I've only had experience with it at Chicago Music Exchange testing a beautiful Sandberg California VM4. It was easily the best sounding of the many I played there. It was a very versatile bass, blending between the two, and it was able to get very aggressive sounding.. which I love.
