I recently spoke with Nino Valenti and he told me that Roger was using the same circuitry as the current Berhinger low end line of bass gear in this head ......

Just kidding with you Tom B... and Nino....

Now that is a serious serious bass rig....
2 x 15 Berg - 200 watts of tube power with a ROSEWOOD 5 string Sadowsky ..thick - fat - warm - loud is what comes to mind..

That is actually a pretty good idea! For now, though, it's probably going to go in a 4-space Mesa SUS-4 shockmount rack. But first, I need to look at it some more! :D

I'm definitely more of an ebony fingerboard guy, myself, but certainly that combination would be great as well.

One initial observation that I will share is that this amp definitely combines exceptional clarity and detail with a full, rich, meaty fundamental. The amp section is reminding me of my Trace Elliot VR350 (keep in mind, we're talking initial impressions, here - no A/B/C/D/etc. has been done... yet!), but the preamp is all its own. Just going through each band and experimenting with the range of boost and cut available (some bands are active, and some are passive, I forget which is which right now), I am struck with the thought that it would be very difficult to dial in an "un-musical" or unuseable tone. The tone controls are not wildly powerful, though certainly not there for show, either. I'd call the EQ section "moderately powerful", and I was able to dial in a fairly wide range of useable tones very quickly. More experiments to come...

Well, for an all-tube, 200+ watt head, I actually do find it to be fairly compact. It's only about 10" deep (not counting knobs), compared to my Bass 400 at @ 12" (not counting knobs or handles), and my VR350 (which is an amp only) at @ 13" deep, again, not counting knobs or handles.

Of course, once I throw the rack ears on and put it in a shockmount rack, this is somewhat of a moot point, but at this point, I'm just sharing initial impressions, and that was one of them (that it is fairly compact for a powerful all-tube head).
