The Emo Thread

hahahahaah NO!!! Metal never complained about that, metal is angry emo is sad.

Metal is shouting out at the injustices, emo is complaining about breaking up with a gf and how its the worst thing.

Metal doesn't pull off the "you don't understand me garbage" metal is be what the **** you choose to be and if you care then I couldn't give ****.

Sorry, I just get a bit defensive on that:D
So the difference is that if you're emo you wear glasses and get sad about it and if you're metal you wear spandex at get mad about it. Glad I got that one figured out ;)

At first I thought you were serious with all these band names, but then I thought you must be joking with these band names, but in the end, I know you were serious with these band names. I don't know if I'm supposed to laugh at them or not. So I guess I'll try to not to laugh out loud. I don't understand French or too many other languages, but the few words/phrases in band names that I do understand makes me realize why violence should not be ended. Now we just need to pull our troops out of foreign countries and aim their G36c's at these bands.

This makes perfect sense, since it's awesome to take out your dislike for a certain genre of music that you have no real understanding or appreciation of as an art form on people that are trying their hardest to make their personal dreams and aspirations come true.

And I've never seen a real emo band that wore makeup and cried while onstage because they feel sorry for themselves and thought "nobody understands them". Its just music. It's just expression. The musical and vocal styles of real emo bands are just a byproduct of being more responsive to their emotions and to the stimuli of society. Tell me there's something wrong with that.

As far as the stereotype of emo music being sad, well, that's just a complete lie, same with saying that metal is just angry all the time. If you would actually listen to some real emo bands you would hear a myriad of emotions, from sad to confused to more pissed off than any metal band could ever compete with. At least there's a variety of themes. Music becomes more colourful when an artist isn't afraid to reveal their self.

When you say "violence should not be ended" in reference to emo bands, would you like it if all emo kids decided to make a vendetta against all metal heads, saying that "they're angry all the time, let's go beat some up for no reason at all other than not liking their music"? And if you say that emo kids are too small and weak to do anything, well, i've got a friend that introduced me to screamo and emo that's around 6 foot tall and probably pushing 350 lbs. I would love to see him and some "tough guy" metal head "discuss" the "inferiority of emo". Too bad he probably wouldn't ever do that since he actually has an open mind to all kinds of music.

To be able to appreciate and respect all music as an act of expression is a virtue, and it's the reason i've gotten so tired of the "metal" culture. The whole tough guy thing just gets old, nobody really cares how "brutal" and "metal" you are, most of the time it ends up with a loss of respect from everyone around them. Excluding all the other "tough guy metal heads" around, of course.

That's really cute.

If it makes you feel any better, I like Sunn O))) and Boris almost as much as I like GSY!BE and Modest Mouse.

I like you. Lets be friends.

For the record, my favourite band is Extol. I'd encourage anyone to listen to their stuff. Their albums "Undecieved", "Synergy", and "Burial" should be a staple in any death/thrash/black metal lover's library.

You know, I agree with you here, and I'm a metal head. But I don't like that tough arrogant look. i just like the whole community in other aspects, yes its fun to mosh though:D

Trust me if you were to ever meet me you'd figure I'm a regular guy. I'm not a whole tough white trash want to be tough and brutal guy, I simply like metal and its stance on some things

I don't try to prove how metal I am, in fact I couldn't care how "metal" I am, i don't have to prove anything. Most metal heads here at least are fairly normal guys who are pretty smart and great musicians.

Oh and yes I try not to take **** anymore, if anything I'm too much of a pushover and have been walked over cause of that. Metal in some ways helped with that although I'm still too much of a nice guy:D

Guys who are big and try to act tough are simply giving them selves a false persona and lack class.

Act tough in the pits and at Rugby games for me, act like myself, a regular guy in person, act awesome on stage:bassist:.

Plus Alex didn't you play football? There we go breaking stereotypes:bassist:

I also agree with you on the violence to emo crap, while I don't like it and tease it with my friends sometimes, when we heard about the attacks in Mexico, on a serious not we just thought it was stupid and giving metalheads a bad name.

One thing to tease but you have to be pretty freaking immature to be beating someone up for the way they look. Lacks class IMO.

Ok cool. We're friends again.

And the only time I've ever played football was on a flag football team in 3rd grade. I hated it so I never went back. Haha.

And I know all about moshing. When the metal scene where I live was good I went to almost every single show, coming back with bruises from the pit and a sore neck and tangled hair from headbanging. I miss it a lot.

(i'm a metal head too. I'm listening to some Behemoth right now :))
