A buddy wanted to borrow a bass for some home recording. I told him to get whatever he wanted. He picked my Thunderbird (on looks pretty much.) It's stock except for the DR High Beams. I have to say it didn't sound half bad!

Nicely done! Looks like a vintage bird. Is that chrome tape you used on the pickups or is it just a reflection? Love the tuners! A+
More or less - yes. I used a chrome bumper repair kit I got from Autozone- basically a chrome mylar sticker. It's just a temporary fix until I get something permanent installed.
More chrome today. Just a couple more parts to go!

That looks incredible! I've been entertaining the notion of looking into and possibly buying an Epiphone Thunderbird. From a purely cosmetic point of view though, I think the stock hardware and pickups on them are hideous. I love chrome hardware on my basses, and I have bridge covers on both of my other basses, so...if I were to pick up a Thunderbird, I'd probably do something similar to what you've done with yours. Something like this is what I'm really shooting for, but with a bridge cover added:
Just wondering where you found all of the chrome hardware for yours. Also....did you swap out the stock pickups entirely for replacements that came with chrome covers, or did you merely swap pickup covers? Again, if you don't mind me asking, where did you locate either the replacement pickups or the chrome covers?

1 x Mk IV Goth: Hipshot Supertone bridge, paintwork T-cut and polished, polished stainless pick guard and truss rod cover.
1 x Mk IV Sunburst: unmodified (yet)
Any chance of a number?

Thanks - Here's a chrome rundown so far:
-Hipshot Ultralite Clover tuners: Musicians Friend
-Chrome Epiphone bridge: Ebay
-Silver top Gibson knobs: Guitar Center
-Faux Chrome pickups: Auto Zone; chrome bumper repair kit adhesive decal material cut to fit the top of the stock pickups
-Handrest & Bridge Cover - Ebay; but I also have some being custom fabricated for me. The bridge cover was a tight fit because the raised section is wider on the Epiphone than the Gibson. The handrest doesn't really fit quite right, so I'm waiting to see what my custom ones look like.
-Silver Jack nut: one I had laying around
