I played all the bass classics, several rig combos and basses and just grab an SVT CL, Fridge, good Fender P. Cereal.

Well, it hasn't clouded your judgement on the ultimate bass tone any.

It adds some spring to my tone. Offixial Fender coil it is.

That's like saying the "ultimate" ice cream is Rocky Road. Sure. It's mass appealing and MOST people wouldn't turn it down if it were offered to them.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE the classic P Bass tone through a roaring Ampeg and I'm glad it sets your soul on fire when you play.

A Precision is almost certainly the best bass at getting a Precision bass tone that is the ultimate bass tone when you want one that sounds exactly like a Precision. Unless it's active with less standard pickups in, in which case it is not a very Precisiony Precision and isn't precisely what is needed.

I carted that gear around for several years and I liked it for it's sound but not the aggravation of hauling it. About 25 years ago I started downsizing my rig and I'm very happy I did. All I've really needed for years for that amp tone is my little SABDDI into my little rig or the PA and my P bass is now a shortscale and only a bit over 6 lbs. One thing that hasn't changed is my preference for flats or nylon tapewound strings.
